Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, perhaps. Is this just a desire to conform the game system to internal logic in your head? Or are there specific examples or situations where you feel a switch system would work better than the current "hold door open" system?
I think Dot wishes that switching the "Keep Open" option on a door would actually command a pawn to go over to change the state of said door.
Right now you can order a door to remain open (or closed), but the door will remain in its current state till a pawn actually happens to walk through it. So if you really want to open (or close) a door you'd have to wait till a pawn wanders through it; Or you'd have to manually draft a pawn to wander through the door.
I am myself not aware of a mod that provides this functionality though.
Right, that's how I understood it as well. And yes, I suppose it's slightly more convenient that the switch-flicking would become a 'basic task' or can be right-click ordered to do, versus waiting until someone happens to pass through it or drafting someone. But I don't really see it making a big enough difference to warrant a mod. Unless there are specific situations I'm not thinking of.
Fair enough, that's a perfectly valid reason. :)
I just use close and open the doors a lot, or at least as much as i have mood left to micro in my current save. Some examples would be first sure probably the most not weird one, just for temp regulation and not having to really do many vents, other depending of if i have slaves of too many prisioner i keep them close for security or being able to chase easily versus the efficiency in having many of those doors opened, and probably the most case specific ones are given by my tunneler and darkness memes. The base is a long snake, and the big first part of it is the shroom field, It is a very convenient place to fight so i have always my dark combat bonuses and not penalty, but not only that, it is also a convenient place to when i wanna bait animals so i can hunt then quick, so i have to open and close the entrance door to regulate how many animals go in and then so cant get out and ofc gotta keep the temps.
