Pen size

What's the size for pens? I have what I think is a pretty huge pen but the marker says "Very small pen".

Out of curiosity, is your pen built on low fertility land?

That's likely why. I think it bases size on how much grazing is available, not physical size. It doesn't take stockpile food into account, but does show you the stats on that separately on the food tab for the pen.

So as long as they have stockpile food, pen size doesn't really matter I don't think

I'm having the same problem currently and my entire pen is full of normal soil. As such my animals will not wander my entire pen, only the portion closest to the marker.
