Chess and Ur are the same type for example, but chess is just better so never build Ur.
On the side: do your pawns have some hours in their schedule for "Anything"? Most of the time, my pawns have their entire waking day set to "Anything" and it works out fine; the pawns go to work when an assigned job is available, and they do recreation when they need to.
Yes, it is. I also feel that there is something going on with recreation atm. In my current colony I have a lot of mental breaks because of exact that problem although they are on the same rec times I usually run. They sometimes just dont recreate although it is scheduled and they have low rec. It helped to have 1 hour of "anything" before and after rec time. Maybe it has to do with walking times and already started jobs. Like let's say their rec time starts at 19.00 but at 18:50 they start some job that takes them until 19:30. Now they have to walk back to base for 30 min just to have an hour of rec time before going to bed. That might be not enough. If that happens a couple of days in a row they might get issues with recreation.
I feel that this was the issue in my colony. I actually thought jobs are usually halted once rec time starts and continued the next day. Maybe its a mod thing, maybe something changed. But try giving them 1 h of anything before and after rec.
Hm, okay that sounds like a bug or some general oversight. Because what you say is that you have a lot of rec, you allow for rec, they need the rec but they just dont do it.
Have you checked dev log? Maybe it's a bug.
Stupid question: Your area for rec is allowed right? I had some infestation related thing going on a forgot to put them back into their area and wondered why everybody was just standing around or sleeping on the floor.
Yes the added expectations are very significant and causes exactly what you are experiencing. If they are bored of a recreation type they will not do it even at 0 recreation.
You didn't mention Royalty musical instruments, or drugs. Seems like two recreation sources you are not using. Neither did you mention TV. Unless you have these you are not capped out on recreation.
EDIT: Don't forget chocolate and insect jelly!
