how do I *nicely* evict a wild woman?
A wild woman wandered in. Her personality and ideology suck, I'm not interested in having her as a colonist, so I just let her do her thing, thinking she'd leave in a few days, you know, like the alert says. It's been over a full season and she's still here, stealing my milk and crops, eating corpses, and generally being a nuisance. This is an ethical colony and they don't turn people into hats because they are inconvenient, but this chick needs to go. How do I get her out of here without harming her? Is she EVER going to leave on her own?

Usually they should leave eventually, but dunno how long that takes.
Alternatively you could capture and then release her. Maybe that forces her to leave the map.

Wild humans usually leave when you take away the easy food and they can't get any other. Young chickens should do the same. Building a wooden wall around your fields is a good idea in general to protect your crops and animals.

Well, we already did capture and release her once. There was a heat wave, she collapsed, and my colonists didn't leave her to die because they aren't monsters, but they booted her out once the heat wave was over because they aren't pushovers either lol.

I found it amusing that while she was in jail she equipped the tribal wear I keep there for prisoners, but the instant she was released she dumped it on the ground, like being outside made her forget what clothes are for.

I also thought she'd leave if there wasn't free food, but it turns out that when she can't find food to steal from me, she just harvests berries or agave and eats that. I can't denude the entire map of wild food just for her. :-/

Imprisoning wild humans make them normal prisoners in most ways. When they are released they get the animal mechanics without prisoner stuff again.

Winter usually takes care of the wild food issue. If you can't have that, recruiting and banishing might be the easiest way. You can make a trial or flag her as guilty with cheesing to avoid mood debuffs.

As you choose to take care of her because of RP reasons, it's probably mostly up to you how you actually want to handle the situation in an RP way.

What's the problem with that? If she isn't stealing your food then why not just leave her be until she eventually leaves?

I don't know about you, but if she's stealing your crops, that would be reason enough for me to arrest and imprison her. Or if all else fails and she doesn't get the message, a bullet works too.

Imprison and release might work ?

Or you could have her imprisoned, wait for a berserk mood, and then she'd be guilty and execution is possible without trouble.

But if she is taking wild food and you don't need it, then it shouldn't be much of a problem. Hell, the few pirates that try to log trees from my map don't get much, and I'm in a tundra - I already have my tree farms up and don't need much wood, it's not really a problem.

Because manually directing my haulers to clean up every scrap of food outside the instant it hits the ground is boring and lame. :(

If she IS going to eventually leave, fine, I'll wait it out, but I sure thought it would be faster than 15+ days.

So build a wall so that she can't reach your fields. It'll also buy time against raiders.

I was going to type a lengthy reply with all kinds of creative ways to get rid of her.
Then I realized you said "without harming her".

Welp, I got nothing.

I had one stock around a whole year once. As long as there is food they stick around. If the problem is you trying to manually exploit all the food on the floor then stop, the animals will take care of that as well. Leave it forbidden as it should be by default and let nature run its course.

My commitment to non-violent pest control is being sorely tested.

Either wall up your crops or tame and then banish her. Of course, the reasonable solution is just to kill it. Ethical also means punishing the thief that has been stealing the food from your colony and not letting their labor be wasted by some hungry bint.

Tame and banish is probably the quickest and most ethical. Consider it education on please dont steal and be off. Banished moodlet usually isnt too bad.

Ugh. I hate it when a "Wild Person" shows up. They act weird, steal my stuff and usually get themselves severely injured just by being alive.

I like what a lot of others have been saying: Arrest the Wild Person to prevent them from causing trouble. Execute them or send them off with an Imperial Trader to get rid of them.

It might not be the most ethical route, but they are definitely not great company... Especially if they lack any beneficial Skills for a Colony.

I had a similar experience in my last game with two of them who wouldn't leave and they literally eventually "moved in"...as in wouldn't leave being right outside the front door of my base.

I tamed and then banished them.
