Any way to recruit a particular ancient soldier?
The one I want has decided to leave after they have recovered, is there anything I can do that won't piss off the entire ancient soldier faction? Trap them? Get them to go berserk and arrest them? Change a save file?

There usually isn't a real ancient solider faction or are you talking about a certain mod that adds that? Usually you can just arrest them.

There's no real downside to making the neutral ancients faction hostile, they aren't a full faction, they don't raid you, it doesn't impact any events. The only effect it has is any future ancient dangers you open will always be hostile.

I would just arrest them. There's likely no other way to stop them from leaving the map without mods. If you try to trap them with walls they will just panic and dig through them.

I don't think there is, but if you manage to make a doorless room around him, you can them heat up the room and makes the guy pass out (gently). You can then rescue him and pretend you saved him? :-)

What are future ancient dangers? Just the ones on new maps you settle on? I think the complex missions of ideology has hardcoded hostiles.

Yes just the dangers you find on your map or other maps you settle in the future. At least AFAIK. As you mentioned I've never seen a non-hostile ancient in a complex.

I'd say... Just let them leave until they invariably come back as a raider.

That's how I got myself rid of two "oh-♥♥♥♥-I-give-up" breaked body purists.

Purists... Bah. Who needs any purists in this world ? The rim needs half-wired, half-not-scarred-yet murder machines, not scar-ridden, serum-wasting "pure" pieces of disabilities !

True but this one is a Pop Idol with 17 social. Just imagine the possibilities early game... Not sure if it's gonna be possible to convert them though, I guess in prison there's gonna be a lot of time to break them.

Since you seem fine with cheating (Change save file) just activate devmode there is a command in the new menue at top to instant recruit without penalty.

OK I will do last resort although the revelation that making them hostile doesn't really have any repercussions is probably going to be the path I take. Good to know devmode is there just in case I need it.
