Is Scaria similar to Rabies?
I haven't been able to stop thinking about this since Scaria was first introduced to RimWorld.
Is it meant to be a more aggressive strain of Rabies, or just a very similar disease?

It follows the same pattern of causing extremely increased aggression, confusion, instability, and eventually death.

Something like that, probably an evolved strain of rabies. Its been like 3500 years since people went to space in Rimworld. Plenty of time for rabies to evolve into something worse or get "modified" by scientists.

If it was like rabies the animal and you would eventually die (if you got bitten).

Presumably the animals do die offscreen after a while, seeing as they often auto-rot upon death. Their internal organs must be riddled with necrosis for that to be the case. As for why humans don't die, assume that scaria is no longer transmissible to humans. After all, the description of humans does say that they are "mostly unmodified".

The Scaria health condition shows a death timer. They usually just leave the map before that happens, probably due to hunger.

Its effects are definitely scaria than rabies :cozybrawlhalla1:

Since some rot on death, my guess is it's a mix of Rabies and space aids.
