The game has never been on sale for more than 10% off according to steamdb, which matches with the policy stated in the FAQ of the game's website.

Here is a price history, including graph, of the game for Steam since the day of its release (and early release)....it says that if you saw it it was in your dreams, and not in reality:

More than likely you saw it on sale at 3rd party website. It's been on some 15-25% discounts, but it's still nowhere close to discounts in other games.

tynan doesn't belive in sales, the 10% sales are just for marketing on steam

thats because rimworld is good with mods, can just keep price same and roll out a trash dlc every year or so for the modders to expand on to keep people coming back.

paradox strategy

That's not there(paradox) strategy though. For two reasons.

1, Most paradox mods suck. There bad.
2. Paradox games regularly got on big sales.

Why doesn't rimworld go on sale? It's not strategy. It's arrogance.

Looks like I'm going to have to post this again
What about future sales?

For the first 7 years after it became available (2013-2020), RimWorld was never on sale. Our goal has always been to make a game that’s worth its full price. We want to attract players who are interested enough for that price to make sense for them by improving and expanding the game over years and years of active development (as opposed to seeking discount impulse buys). This general philosophy remains in place. However, it’s also cool to participate in sales, so for the forseeable future RimWorld will participate in sales at small discounts of ~10%.

When the game exits beta, and the price goes UP, and then the game goes on "sale" for a price that's still higher than the price during beta?

That is not a sale.

And, for the record? A lot of brick-and-mortar stores, especially department stores, use a "sale" as little more than a scam. You go to Macy's, you see that neat widget for sale at 50% off, you think "what a deal" and you buy that widget for a hundred bucks, never realizing that it was only worth forty bucks and that the "ON SALE" sign conveniently left out the fact that the "sale" was merely after a huge markup. Stores do this ALL the TIME.

Where the hell is Consumer Reports when----oh, that's right. They don't do video games.

It's not a sale, that's the point. It's just to get the people begging for a sale to stop.

Bah. Admit it. The sale beggars are the real reason you're here. :steamhappy:

g2a. most games on perma sale. People buy games in other countries cheaper and I think buy as gift so sell on there for a little profit.

I always check g2a for savings but choose steam if both prices the same.
It can also be used for money-laundering. Get a bunch of stolen credit cards, buy a heap of game keys (from official sources like the developers themselves), list those for a much lower price on G2A so they sell quickly, get un-traceable money in your own account.

Meanwhile, some random person sees weird transactions and gets their bank to reverse the charge. The bank demands the money back from the place of purchase, because fraudulent transaction. The devs lose the money from that purchase and essentially get their game keys stolen (because revoking those keys is a PR nightmare & not worth the risk), in addition to taking a financial hit from any extra transfer/reversal fees applied by the bank - resulting in the dev getting negative dollars from the sale.

While it would be nice to believe that someone bought the game in Argentina or the Ukraine, that probably ain't the case. :-/

LMAO, not even going to waste my time with a lengthy response to this. Suck that steam nipple.

Who said anything about exclusively buying games from Steam? There are plenty of legit alternatives for buying steam games that *aren't* Steam or G2A.
(It is worth noting that even Rimworld's website registers your copy of the game directly to your Steam account, instead of offering a Steam key for you to use. There are reasons for this.)

Nobody mentioned exclusivity. Your making things up or imagining things for the sake of posting a comment to be involved in the conversation.
You did, actually. You said "suck that steam nipple" when he never mentioned buying things exclusively from steam, just brought up that g2a is shady as ♥♥♥♥.

explain to me how suck that steam nipple equates to exclusivity please.
You can buy nothing (directly) from steam ever but still think g2a is crap, no? So why would he have to be sucking the steam nipple?

I repeat the last question - explain to me how suck that steam nipple equates to exclusivity please.
Why did you exclusively bring up the steam nipple?
