Hospital Furnishings, question
Is there any additional things that go into a hospital other than beds and the vitals monitor?

I'm talking in terms of higher tech research. I'm currently expanding my current hospital after having researched the bed and monitors, but want to be sure there's room for anything I may not have unlocked tech wise.

(p.s. I know about biosculptures things, I'm putting those in a separate room).

Maybe a TV for recreation?

Can they watch TV while in a hospital bed? The wiki says it requires chairs so I didn't even consider that.

TV works in a hospital.

Sterile tiles help too.

Yup. Main things of benefit. Hospital beds, vital monitors, sterile tiles, entertainment (tv) and light.

Tip with vital monitors, bed gets bonus if adjacent, so one vital monitors can bonus two beds.... or three if clever. Biosculptor gets bonus for cleanliness, so make sure those rooms are sterile to cut down times.

In addition I leave room for shelves to keep the medicine close, TV, and art for beauty.

I have it set up so one vital monitor is doing 5 beds. You can get as high as 8, but I put them against a wall so one side is not available. The wiki has a picture of how to do 8.

If not for the wiki I would have never known, because it didn't occur to me that hospital beds don't need a "free space" on the side of them so can be crammed up together.

Thanks for the tip on the biosculpting. I was NOT aware of that, and didn't make it a 'clean room' like I did my hospital. Going to fix that now!

Yep, got that covered. I should have mentioned that in my original question as something I had already thought of. I appreciate you taking the time to reply, regardless!

Yep, I even got a tooltip from the learner database thing to add one so the patients don't get bored.

Heh, I read all those in my first playthrough and don't recall that one. I turned it off after that.

Vital monitors have been changed so that they need to be adjacent to the hospital bed. You can have one run four if you go a + shape, but that also is quite an inefficient design. The three bed layout lets you zipper pattern.

I noticed the "Must be adjacent" the other day. Course I didnt consider if on an angle/corner to corner works...

Maybe not exactly high-tech related and the TV has been mentioned; keep a couple spots around for plant pots and statues. A beautiful hospital keeps the mood of the doctors and patients up, as well.

I usually do 6 beds along one side... along this pattern.
bed
monitor
bed
chair
bed
monitor
bed
chair
bed
monitor
bed

The thing with the chairs is pawns will come sit in them to watch TVs set to cover the beds and provide social interaction with patients too.

Also a good thing to have is a storage room/cooler attached for medical goods other than the medicine on the shelf (herbal medicine, drugs, body parts, etc) to keep it all in a central location so the doctor doesn't need to travel all over to get the lung for Bob

TV's usually aren't required, I think I've put a TV in a hospital once. Doctors will come in and "chat with patients" to keep their recreation up a bit and that tends to be enough. A few sculptures near the beds provide much more benefit, if you can keep "gorgeous surroundings" on your colonists while they lay in a comfortable bed then there's not much in the game that's going to bring their mood down.

For me, the touching corners diagonally is considered "adjacent" by the vital monitor. Thus a square has 8 "adjacent" tiles where beds can be positioned.
I double checked when I built my layout, that's the way it works in my game.
