Question about DLC and GOG and steam workshop
I own Rimworld on GOG and was wondering if i could buy the Royalty DLC on steam then link to GOG and use. The whole reason to buying the DLC, would I have access to comment and contribute to the Steam Rimworld Workshop? If base game is required to comment and contribute to modders Ill buy it again nbd. Or is there any way to gain access to these privileges? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I went ahead and purchased the game again on Steam yesterday and now I can do all that. And yes, base game is required on Steam to comment and activate any DLC that are purchased here.

You should ask GOG that question. I suspect the answer is no. The Steam DLC will almost certainly require the base game on Steam.

Again, i would ask GOG how Steam Workshop mods play with the base game and DLC. You might manually be able to install mods, but that would not really be the same as using the workshop.

I like GOG and all, but some times it lacks conveniences or there's problems like this where a base game + DLC + mods don't play nice unless they're all on the same platform.

Maybe someone else can link you since I’m on phone but there’s a way to download the mods from steam workshop without owning it on steam.

Not really a fault of GOG. Steam will eventually have the same problem too if epic decides to operate their “workshop” the same way.

Yeah that's true. There's more chance of cooperation between Steam and GOG though. Like i said, i like them a lot but games in active development or with a lively modding community do benefit more from Steam, imo.
