I had traders with cows, cows wandering in and join, like other animals, and i play mostly in harsh nothern biomes.
Then cows, well, mostly i butcher them quickly. they give just milk. And they eat. But i have moded argallis, they give me milk and warm wool.

For future ref, Traders are the best way to get out-of-biome animals. I don't know if faction bases will trade animals that are not spawnable in their respective biomes.
All in all, I think not.
In my current subartic playthrough, I have 2 female pumas care of traders, but nothing from the town traders. For obvious reasons, I check every single town whenever the stock changes.
Well, they don't spawn anywhere. So, how else are they going to get into the game except from a Trader or, as per the wiki, a "Self-Tame Event?"
It doesn't mean that you're guaranteed to ever see any in your current playthrough, though. :(
Pumas? Not seen them in RW. I don’t play with mods. Big cats in vanilla are panther, cougar & lynx.
