Kidnapped Colonist completly deleted (even in Social tab)
Hi Guys,

So in my medieval playthrouh after an epic battle for the castle my most favorite pawn "lord Roberts" was kidnapped by a hostile kingodm. Since it is an commitment play i kinda stuck with it, although it sucked immensly :(

To get myself through, i swore eternal vengeance and vowed to capture him back. At this time his Wife and 2 daughters still showed him in the social tab. First as kidnapped and then as hostile, i asume it means he joined the hostile faction while kidnapped.

So i started raiding all enemy camps to get him back. I send out Sir Louis (an most famous melee hereo of many tournaments) and his 3 Rhino-Knights to get him. My understanding was, there is a random chance he might be in any village. After ~7 villages raided and in the middle of the fight for the next one, i suddenly get the message "Lord Roberts has exited the map". i am like 99% sure he was not in the village i currently raided.

Now even his wife Queen Rin and his Daughter the Princesses Lydia and Amie do not show him in the social tab at all :/ there is no "my husband died debuff or anything" :((

Now my whole motivation for the playthrough is drained :/

Loading etc has not helped. Has anyone else encoutered a bug like this ? Can i re-create this pawn via Def-mode?

Maybe his faction captured an AI Ship and he left the planet ? lol

Sorry, if he's gone in the social tab it's likely Lord Roberts is long dead or he did leave the planet. You can check for sure by turning on dev mode, going to the "Spawn World Pawn" tool and see if he's listed.

If you have an old save file before he disappeared it's possible to do some save file surgery to copy and paste his def into your current file. That's the only thing I can think to bring him back. It's a little tricky but you don't need coding skills or anything to do it.

hmm ok unfortnutaly since it was a commitment playthrough there are no old savegame files with him :/

in the savegame file he is still mentioned in the "has a relation with xyz" part of the file, but there is no <thing Class="Pawn"> with his name anymore.

But since i tried the map seed several time and he is one of the initial colonists, i have an other savegame with him in it. Can i "just" copy his <thing Class="Pawn"> into my new savegame (and make the ids match or something) ?

how do i add him to the spawn world pool as enemy faction ?

Yeah you can do exactly that, take his <thing Class="Pawn"> data from the other save and paste it right after or before another pawn's data. If the save data still has the "has relationship with" and you match up the IDs then he might come back with all his relationships intact without you having to mess with dev mode.

Search "outlander" to go to where the factions are listed, and then find the faction you want him to join. Make note of that faction's <loadID>. Then go to Roberts and near the top you'll have a line that says something like <faction>Faction_27</faction>. Change the number to the ID of the faction you want him to be in.

oh yeah I remembered another thing, look for: <pawnsForcefullyKeptAsWorldPawns>
and put his ID there so he doesn't disappear again

World pawns are regularly culled and removed from existence. If a colonist is captured you have a fairly limited chance of seeing them show up in a Ransom event, and then an even less likely chance of getting them back some other way after that before they are gone for good. If you use something like RuntimeGC the entire point of that mod is to quickly clear out world pawns from your save, so that would make things much less likely to work out for you.

I don't know about this "has exited the map" message though, that doesn't sound normal.
