Low Tech "Organic" Corpse Disposal Method
Recently I noticed a lot of RimWorld videos where people seemed to have an awful lot of rats, so I tried it out myself. Due to how fast they breed and grow, you get tons of them really quick. They can graze grass outside (or in my case, dandelions in a walled-in pasture). In combat they are also amazingly good because of small size and a nasty bite. I've seen them 1v1 manhunter horses or deer and win! However, there's another benefit I noticed...

Since they can eat corpses, you can just have a corpse freezer for any human bodies to get put into. If there's enough of them, or few enough corpses, you can also try an outdoor or non-frozen area. Just limit all your rats to that specific corpse stockpile whenever it gets nice and full. 30 rats can devour a half dozen corpses in only 2-3 days. Only let them out when they are finished eating everything (they won't eat rotting corpses, sorry). Surprisingly, feeding dead colonists to rats does not seem to cause a mood debuff to anyone.

This way you save time, energy, and materials you'd spend on cremation or mass graves. It also provides your rat swarm with a ton of food and leaves more pasture space for your other animals.

But then...couldn´t you do the same with every tame carni- or omnivore you own?

Rat swarms are common enough to be in the lexicon, but it can take some micromanagement to make it "worth it"

At the end of the day, if you enjoy the idea of commanding your own rat swarm, then of course it's worth it.

For lower micromanaging, you can use the colony manager mod, and it will keep the herd at a certain count and male/female ratio as long as you have a pawn free for a few seconds day.

Interesting mod, I might give it a try once this colony eventually dies.

It's true this works for any omnivore, but rats seem to multiply faster than just about anything else, they're very commonly found, plus they're arguably strongest pound for pound in fights. If you have 12 dogs or something then you could do the same thing with those.
