Vanilla fishing expanded - Can't cook with fish?
Trying to force cook simple meals and getting told I don't have any ingredients. There's 80 fish (guppies and minnows) in the fridge but I can't figure out where the disconnect is happening. Help!

What's the intermediate step for an egg, though? Clean it, I guess? Rice doesn't have an intermediate step to make it standard food, either, you harvest it in standard-sized-food stacks. You can't go the rice route of multiple items equaling the nutrition for eggs either, since that'd make egg-layers reproduce way too fast.
With that we are just going into "realistic" again. You can probably just create "cracked eggs"[oxygennotincluded.fandom.com] or whatever (oxygen not included have those and they are standardised by mass).
I don't think this is a good solution since there are varying food types in Rimworld and ways to acquire them and that should not be blunted away (e.g. egg cooking is the only fine meal way that does not get less yield from people with health conditions that reduce butcher efficiency / gather yield). I am simply saying that there is a similar (though yes more complex) issue with eggs. I wasn't out to present a solution.

nvm - problem was that 80 fish is only enough for 1.5 meals so they couldnt make 4 like the bill asked lol

Ya, the mod saves a step compared to most other fishing mods but you don't notice it right away. Usually you have to butcher the fish to get varying amounts of generic "fish meat" to use in cooking, sometimes that requires butchering multiple small fish for one meat or butchering one large fish for multiple meat, but VFE allows you to just cook with the whole fish which is really nice. You just have to notice that a minnow and a swordfish have different nutrition. I know this is really tricky and complex for some people, but you seem to have gotten it pretty quickly. Definitely the best fishing mod out there.

It's just silly, like I already went over. The modmods that turn what's fished into a generic fish with the same nutrition as any other raw food make the mod consistent with the game, and would confuse absolutely nobody. As it is now it's like butchering a rat and getting one rat meat and butchering a muffalo and getting one muffalo meat, but with those meats having different nutrition values based on their size.

Wait why are people complaining about vanilla expanded fishing?
Its free, quick food that can sustain a colony indefinitely on only 25 tiles of connected water. Who cares if a single fish cant make a single simple meal? Its food that is always available no matter the season or weather (unless you have a drought event i suppose). If fish were amazing, they would be unbalanced as heck.

He just complains about Vanilla Expanded in any thread it's mentioned, all of the sub mods, no matter what is being discussed, it's either bloat or terrible or confusing. Everyone has different tastes, and some people specifically dislike anything that's popular or well received.

That's not the problem. The problem is the reason the thread exists.
