Vanilla fishing expanded - Can't cook with fish?
Trying to force cook simple meals and getting told I don't have any ingredients. There's 80 fish (guppies and minnows) in the fridge but I can't figure out where the disconnect is happening. Help!

nvm - problem was that 80 fish is only enough for 1.5 meals so they couldnt make 4 like the bill asked lol

check details, meat. see if the raw fish catagory is unchecked. also do you have ideology, and banned eating meat. as fish is a meat.

and yeah, small fish needs a lot of make mills. their better used for fine meals when you do a 50/50 split.

Are they allowed in the bill?

Oh wow, so the million different types of fish the mod adds don't even work off the game's standard nutrition/item? Oskarware really boggles the mind.

I'm pretty sure that is by design.
It's actually useful if you are trying to use fish for more than one thing and want to make sure you have some of each of those things steadily available. It's how I have some bills set up and I wouldn't be able to do that if it wasn't for the different types of fish.

Even granting that, it doesn't explain why fish have non-standard nutrition, which this thread shows leads to confusion.

That particular mod allows you to select small, medium, or large catches. It also displays nutritional values. Setting a zone to catch small fish is quicker than catching medium or large. All of which is described in that mod.

Most people can grasp the concept that a minnow isn't going to offer as much sustenance as a tuna, btw.

Stacks aren't counted items, but masses. What does "75 rice" look like? Obviously it's not 75 grains of rice. The mods that make fish generic work off this idea, which is consistent with the rest of Rimworld's design.

I agree. In this mod's case it's chosen to break down nutrition gained by time spent fishing.

Right, so why doesn't it give, say 1 minnow from small fishing and 3 tuna from large, with one minnow = one tuna = one rice? You know, consistent game design?

Beats me. Doesn't matter. The nutrition info is on the mod page and if people don't like it they can use another mod.

Agreed.
People who throw shade at mod authors who don't do things the way "they" think they should be done are pretty lame.

Especially in this case where the complaint is "it isn't done the same way the rest of the game does things".... Given that sometimes that is the ENTIRE point of a mod, it's a pretty silly complaint.

Someone who doesn't like it should just not use the mod.
Someone who actively goes onto forums to complain about it but who isn't actively making mods themselves is like the fat guy in the the stands shouting insults down to the field.

There have been no insults made before the one you just did. Just a person who was confused why someone makes it a certain way that breaks with the games original design and what the purpose of this could be.

I have made a couple mods, in fact. Small ones, but mods. I also modify mods pretty often when there's things I don't like. The one that makes fish consistent already exists, so I use that.

Nowhere did I say YOU were the fat guy; that particular comment was an "in general," not intended to point back at you specifically. I apologize if you took it that way.

You see commenters in workshop posts frequently where "random guy who has never made a mod in his life" is throwing shade at the mod author. Those were the folks I was talking about.
