Pigging Out and Drugs
I've noticed that colonists with the pigging out mental break have been using the hard drugs (Go-juice, Wake-up, etc) that I've forbidden by the drugs tab, they don't have the chemical interest, or fascination, trait.

Is this intended, or a bug?

I've never seen a colonist consume drugs as part of the base game food binge mental break. It sounds like a bug or an interaction with some mod.

You sure it's the pigging out mental brake? Can only reassure what Astasia said, never had any pigging out on drugs, only lavish meals, ambrosia etc.

To give at least half an answer to your question;
When a pawn is in a mental break of any kind they will ignore any orders you gave in the past and will ignore any current orders.

This means that if you mark forbid on drugs, food, or doors they will during the course of the break go through forbidden doors, eat meals that noone is alowed to eat/haul, and/or use drugs even against drug policy depending on what kind of mental break it is.

There are different breaks for food and drugs. So they may not be on the food break but rather the drug break.

I don't have any mods, and I don't recall ever seeing this on a previous game, so it might have been a recent update that broke it.

It's forbidden via social policy, not via the forbidden tool. And it's definitely the pigging out break, and they don't have the chemical traits, so they can't even get the drug binge breaks.

Mentally Broken colonists also ignore food/drug policies, that's intentional. While drugs do have a nutritional value and are functionally "food" in the game, they aren't classified as such and shouldn't be "eaten" during a food binge AFAIK, so I'm not really sure what's going on there.

Actually, it looks like you don't have any meals. I think colonists under a food binge will eat the highest nutrition items they can get. There might be something funny happening there where drugs are appearing equally "nutritious" compared to your raw food. If that's what is happening I don't know if it's intentional or not. It might be an oversight, I don't think it's very common people reach the point where they have stockpiles of drugs without stockpiles of meals.

Don't only the food-like drugs have nutritional value? Like beer. My colonists are doing wake-up and go-juice.

In the one screenshot where you can actually see the full kitchen, there are definitely meals. And the colonists that have had mental breaks aren't the cooks, plus the cooks are a decent level, and I've had no raw food complaints, so I doubt that lack of meals is the issue.

This is due to a mod conflict. Colonists DO NOT consume drugs on the Food Binge break.
Monty Sep 9, 2020 @ 7:27pm
I have not seen the Pigging Out mental state before, but had plenty of Food Binge breaks.

Likely that pigging out is the colonist consuming everything can be consumed, drugs or foods. Quick Google search found plenty of people seem to have had a colonist have a pigging break and they go for anything from food to insect jelly and harder stuff.

Looks like its working as intended. Good luck.

I don't have any mods, and have never modded Rimworld. I don't even really mod in general. Definitely not a mod issue.

While true that they dont consume drugs during food binge mental break, there are social drug and hard drug binges as seperate mental breaks. Food is minor, social drugs is mayor and hard drugs is an extreme mental break.

And they have the food break, so this doesn't matter. I've linked images in this thread. Only people with chemical traits get those breaks, None of my colonists have those traits, and they aren't having those breaks.

This mod might help, I use it mainly to stop animals from eating them for their nutritional value. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1531640632

I actually just had this happen to me. Food binge, I thought I would be clever and use the locks mod to prevent access to my kitchen for the pawn, so she instead started eating random drugs around the base. I unlocked my kitchen and she went back to eating actual food. Not sure if it's intentional or not, maybe a change in an update to prevent quickly walling off food, or in my case it could be caused by a mods. As you say though wake-up has no nutritional value but my colonist did consume some wake-up while "pigging out."

Edit: After a bit of testing I think I see what is happening and it's almost certainly intentional. If a colonist under any kind of "binge" is very tired they will take a wake-up so they can binge longer. They don't binge on wake-up, even if it's the only item available to them, they just take the one to stay awake, maybe during a very long binge they might grab a second. It's an interesting change.
