Quest guests and tattered apparel

But I can't change their outfits. Seriously? Am I missing something? Seems like a really obvious oversight considering you often need to keep their mood above a certain level.

Feed him lavish meal. Drug him. Make their enviro beautyfull. Find ways to counter the tattered apparel penalty.
Or
Make them downed. (send them fight small animals till they collapse). You can strip downed guests (idk if they garb better gears when they are able to walk, never tried this method.)

Stripping them will give you a faction rep penalty and then they'll have 'unhappy nudity' instead of 'tattered apparel' as they won't seek new clothes. To my knowledge there is no way in vanilla to outfit them with new clothing unfortunately. You just have to accept the tattered apparel penalty and provide buffs to compensate.

You have to pretend it's their lucky Van Halen T-shirt.
Even though it's old and ratty, they always wear it on away missions. If they take it off, it'll jinx the band and they'll break up.
