Very low FPS (even with no mods)
Hello everyone,

I was playing Rimworld with my new system (i7 core, 1080, 16Gb Ram, ssd etc...) and finally I can appreciate the late game without too much FPS drop as it happened with my old PC.

This happened since I closed Rimworld on saturday 22 and re-opened it on sunday 23: my game run at 1 FPS. Even the loading time it's eternal, even when I click on "Load" it takes 30 seconds to show me the saved game list ...

I also tried to remove every mod, start a new colony: 16fps at 1x speed.

I also tried to remove the game and reinstall it, 1.2 version and even tried 1.1 version, but nothing is changed.

What the hell is happening? Please, someone can help me understand how to find why Rimworld has got this huge perfomarnce issue? Is there any way to log what is doing?

Obviously other games run smooth, no problem, no low FPS.

The main problem with this game is that it only utilizes one core of your processor, so even beefy computers can run the game poorly. Having a lot of pawns or animals slows down the game.
I suggest the "make war not love" mod, as it drastically increases performance late game by removed all the stored social nonsense. I think the mod also removes animal family trees, though that may be a different mod I have

But my problem is that now I've got 1/5 fps, but the night before I run it smooth with 60+ FPS
Perhaps there's a cache/log file that's gotten bloated? Try making a back up of the ludeon studios folder located in Appdata/Locallow and then deleting the original folder. If that didn't help also try verifying/reinstalling the game.

I just found the problem: if I open the GeForce Experience and "Optimize" the game ... it ♥♥♥♥♥ up the FPS :P

I removed Rimworld from the GeForce Experience and everything is fine now!

I've had nothing but bad experience with GeForce Experience honestly. Not worth using

for me is the first time that I've got problem with it, but this really sucks because maybe in other case I lose FPS only due GeForce Experience ... who knows!

Towards late game I start to get some fps stutter too. I have a i9 10900k, 32gigs of RAM, and an RTX 2080ti. I should be able to handle 10k pawns on the screen at once and get as much performance as I would playing pong on this thing.

Don't bother with this dude, changing your CPU would do you little good. RimWorld does not run on more than 1 core - at best 2 (but I doubt that).
Heck, most games don't use more than 4 cores - anything more than this does absolutely nothing but let your pc run background apps on other cores should it so damn choose to, which well, to do efficiently you need to force it to do otherwise it will choose to populate core in succession.

The only thing that matters - is core clock speed and the gains for that has been minimal at best over the past few years.
