RimWorld

I have a problem.
This has only happened to me twice and both times it was today. I'll be doing the usual rimworld stuff and everything is working great. But then I'll go to do something be it building or saving the game and I'll notice the bottom half of the hud is gone and I can't escape to the menu screen. I can still pause the game and see the right and top part of the hud. I can't interact with the pawn icons at the top though. I can hover over the right side with date and temperature but after i move my mouse again the popup follows the mouse and bugs out. I tried restarting my game but as soon as I got back in the hud was still gone and I couldn't escape to the menu.

Yes I have plenty of mods but they've worked together for multiple playthroughs.
I've used a majority of those mods in .17 and earlier too. There is a handful of errors (red text) on the config that pops up after first launching the game but again these mods have been working since a few days after B18 was released.

If anyone has run into this bug and knows what causes it or how to fix it please let me know.

Thanks.

I think the Rimworld process is running out of usable memory. Since it's a 32-bit process without being Large Address Aware, it can only ever use around 2GB of RAM maximum. The mods you have installed are probably bloating your save past this point, and it doesn't know what to do as a result.

To be absolutely sure, check Task Manager and look for RimWorldWin.exe*32 in the Processes list. If memory is well over 2 million KB, then that would be the problem.

It's a super corrupt room. I don't know what exactly causes it but I have seen it as well. Somehow a room bugs out completely and hovering your mouse anywhere inside that room causes the UI to disappear. For me it happened a couple times when I was doing a lot of renovation in my base, tearing down walls with the intent to rebuild them, somehow when all those rooms merged because of the missing walls the room state got screwed up so bad it caused that issue. Another issue related to that is cases of pawns not being able to eat food, seems to be a less extreme version of the same issue, where the room is bugged and pawns don't know what mood buff to apply from eating. Both of those issues I only had while playing with TiberiumRim, and a simple reload of the game would fix it. I don't know if TiberiumRim was actually the cause, or if other mods have similar issues.

Thanks. I'll try this in a little bit and give an update.

I don't use TiberiumRim but I'm glad to know the problem now. Thanks. I am using some rather undeveloped mods so I might try disabling them and see what happens.

I suspect it's caused specifically by mods that have the wrong tag on objects that are supposed to be built on or under walls. In TiberiumRim's case I think it was the wires in that mod, which are supposed to be able to go under walls, but if you build the wires on existing walls those walls get deconstructed, and I think that's what creates a corrupt room state. That's just a guess after thinking about it for a bit. I know there are a few other mods with that issue because that object tag changed in B18 and some modders haven't noticed or cared enough to correct the issue.

As far as errors/red text in config go I see an issue with a USCM trader and a lot of iBionics stuff most likely to do with RBSE. Possibly because there aren't any patches for some of the race mods I have. I do have glitter tech that has heavy power conduits but I don't use them.

Rimworld is using 2,088.3 MB while ingame according to task manager. I'll upload some screenshots in a moment.

That is what it looks like ingame.

My 10 most recent rimworld screenshots show that and the config popup when you first launch the game.

Generally you shouldn't even attempt to play until you resolve all the red errors on boot, they usually mean something is very wrong and it could have all sorts of side effects in your game.

I had those same bionic errors after Cybernetic Storm updated like a week or so ago. Totally broke a lot of the mod and corrupted saves at the time.

The trader error probably wouldn't cause your issue, but might cause issues when attempting to interact with factions.

The barbwire one, I mean maybe, if you built any or it's spawning with world gen.

If that screen is a new game and you have the issue mousing over anywhere outside, then my guess it's something being spawned by world gen. Maybe some of the structures are being created with a bad material, or something wrong with some modded vegetation.

The trader issue has been with me since A16 if not earlier. The cybernetic storm issue is new but i'll try disabling it and see what happens. I wasn't sure if it was RBSE or not. I'll try and it and give more updates. Normally I don't have that many errors but it still works fine. Maybe a trade ship won't have anything to sell or something like that.

Ok I disabled USCM, Cybernetic storm and barbed wire and started a new game. Normally this issue would occur within the first day of landing. With the new game I played for about five days and everything was fine. No errors. USCM and Barbed wire only had one error each while all the others were from Cybernetic storm so I assume cyber storm was the cause of the issue. I will keep playing and let everyone know if I run into the problem again with those three mods disabled.

After disabling those three mods there all the errors were gone in the config popup.

Happened again. I think it might have something to do with stockpiles because it happened after I finished editing a stockpile's settings. I do have a stockpile mod so I'll disable that and keep trying.

any news about your Problem? Cause i got the exact same Issue.
Had a Colony, and now the UI wont load anymore.
Started a new Colony, played a few Hours and saved it, loaded it again and the same Problem occurs, no UI. I deactivated the last mods i installed, but the Problem wont got away.

you should post your dev log here. I had this problem before with 2 different reasons but it is very easy to solve by looking at the error log.
