Steam has plenty top down shooters.

You might havea better luck picking any one of them instead of asking for unrelated titles to be converted.

build your base prepair for raid. raid happens and you chose a character to control and shoot while also pausing the game to move your other characters around. sounds pretty fun! XD

...yeah, have to agree. It might be fun for some players, and as such, could probably work as part of a mod, but so far, if you want some sort of 'player avatar', you're free to simply select a pawn you like, and control them during combat directly (that is, more in-detail than others).

Then again, some 'player avatar' mechanic that removes penalties from being 'directly controlled' from a single pawn, as well as stops the Drafted mode from auto-disabling for them, enables 'idle' activities that increase their mood or even gives temporary tiny boosts to productivity, and probably alters their mood to have less swings and mental breaks (or even better, during a mental break, breaking objects, hitting people, standing in one spot or doing certain activities increases your mood, while productive activities get massive speed or quality penalties), and other similar changes could've made for a fun separate gamemode.

This idea could work if maybe some kind of vehicle or "tank/mech" was introduced?

I really don't understand why so many people in comments have to be such ♥♥♥♥♥.

Yeah, it would be cool to have a direct control feature that would be completely optional to use. I know I can control my Pawns better then the AI can, and it would be nice to do so.

I really don't understand why so many people insist on necroing 5 year old threads.

When pawns are drafted there is no AI, you already have full control.
If you are referring to when pawns are not drafted, well that would defeat the whole point of the game.

Because asking for an entirely different genre as a suggestion for a game is a bit silly. If you want to play that game 5 years later it now exists, it's called Keplerth.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/747200/Keplerth/

That sort of gameplay just doesn't fit at all within RimWorld. Yes if you could fully control a pawn it would perform much better, which means people would be forced to fully control their pawns in combat all the time to be effective which would turn the game into something else and make people want to stop playing. Some things suggested for games would be actively harmful to gameplay and will get a negative response from players.
