Can I rise good quality chance?
I got level 20 craftsman but he makes mostly level 1 or level 2 quality items, once he made legendary (4) but only once. Mb I should rise his mood or give him beeter crafting table?

Make him a nice table, put it in his own work space away from people who may walk by and insult him and make a nice comfortable chair for him to sit in while working. Make sure nobody else is assigned as that crafter to swoop in on the jobs.

Here is a breakdown of how the quality works per level of crafter:

https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Quality

There is a mod that does change these odds a bit and make them a bit more palatable for some players:

or Steam version:

edit: Or I guess the mod Wiawyr displayed as well :) Didn't know about that one.

- "Make him a nice table, put it in his own work space away from people who may walk by and insult him and make a nice comfortable chair for him to sit in while working. Make sure nobody else is assigned as that crafter to swoop in on the jobs."

- Is it trolling or real variables of equation?

I don't think he's trolling, but I'm also pretty sure those things don't affect the build quality. They would IRL, but it's just RNG in vanilla. That said, putting chairs in front of workbenches with long build times is a good idea, but putting them in front of, say, a stove, is less of one; moving over the chairs to reach the interaction spot slows the whole process down every time the colonist brings something to the workbench.

Also, glad to raise awareness of the options out there.

Thank you for pointing this out. I think he is believing that.

"Make sure nobody else is assigned as that crafter to swoop in on the jobs." This one is legit advice, but nothing other than skill seem to affect quality.

Two weeks ago, I wanted to see if it's worth assigning handicapped crafters, and arranged contest between healthy one and onehanded one. Both were lvl 20 and both produced same quality on average.

Congrats on having an opinion. Keeping your best crafter assigned, comfortable, in a good mood and uninterrupted is better advice than just "do whatever its a roll chance". But hey, I'm sure your star crafters make marvelous rifles when they're walking around in a daze because their backs hurt and the lazy abrasive in the colony keeps walking by and beating their ass because they're a hard worker, putting them in the hospital.

Thanks for pointing your opinion out though. I think its great that you have an opinion that means nothing.

All that make them work faster, not nesssary better, as I figured with one handed crafter.
Assuming, that mood affects quality roll because it's realistic, doesn't make it true. Darkness affects blind pawns in this game.

If someone want to be sure, it's easy to roll an experiment in dev mode. Up untill results come up, I know health conditions do not affect Quality, and I don't, really, care if mood does, there are other reasons to keep mood up.

There's no need. I never made the claim nor disputed the information on the wiki, just facetiously poking at a facetious poke. Mood and comfort is to keep them producing at their best so you get more roll chances. The wiki breaks down the roll chances.

Hmph. Reminds of the time my dad told me that usually she won't make you wear one, as long as you don't bring it up. But if you do bring it up, she probably will because then it must matter to you and you'll think she's a slut if she says you don't need to.

My old man was quite the philospher before the Alzheimer's made him think he'd been kidnapped and imprisoned in a secret government labratory.

That sucks. Mine used to buy me pr0stitutes.... when I was a teenager! Not cheap ones either.

Hell, a pr0stitute taught me how to drive.

Yeah prosies sound a lot more legit than growing up in the woods with no electricity being told the world was ending any day. I always get crap rng.

I had a guy with high construction skill, and he routinely made furniture that was Normal, Good, Superior and Excellent. I sent him and a buddy to start a new colony. On arrival, they built a new base. He built 4 beds in this new, totally crappy base, and suddenly his usual quality range was gone. The four beds were Shoddy, Poor, Poor and one Awful.

Not exactly a large trial, but 4 out of 4 is definitely interesting. Sure it COULD be just a coincidence, but it does make me suspect that there are things contributing to quality that aren't listed in the Wiki. When I really need something to be best-possible quality, I try to make sure they are in a good mood at the moment the task is completed. I also try to make sure they don't get interrupted.
