As for AVG - fix your antivirus. TBH, most of the "free" AV software is terrible.
Ah that sucks. I've got 200 mods+ and probably half of them aren't for 1.2 yet. So it would be next to impossible to get them working that way :P
I guess i'll just skip playing Rimworld when offline. Thanks for the tip though.
Hahah fair enough. I did end up creating an exception, but i found it weird that it just started behaving like that randomly.
I've considered getting some good AV before, but it's not really in my economy as i'm currently a full time student.
As for the Virus, I understand. If you are on Win10, I would suggest just sticking to the built in AV. What you really should be doing is making sure your router is properly setup and then AV is much less of an issue.
^-- This.
It's a "one button click." It's so darn simple to do and the rewards for doing so are to great to pass up! It's the easiest way to "Version Control" your modlist! All you have to do is use that button to copy mods over to the default /mod directory, then you can let the Workshop versions update as much as you want without ever effecting your current save. There's also, IIRC, saved-game dependency tracking features as well...
It's a "must have" for anyone running a lot of mods. I use it and only run about five or so mods, typically. Because... one-button-click-/mod-directory-copies-for-offline-play.
On virus detection:
You're running a bajillion mods and I have no idea where you go them or what they do. Period. That's entirely "on you." But, some mods use a .dll file. That file will be run/called and then it will do whatever it is supposed to do. It's likely your AV is seeing this activity taking place outside the game's root directory and then making an assumption it's doing something it should not. Or, it's actually doing something it should not and your browsing history has just been uploaded to your mom's Face-book page...
Check to be sure it's not a false-positive situation. Find out exactly what your AV is worried about and go from there. To be sure, IMO, AVG ain't the best solution for antivirus protection. But, any is better than none.
Your best, easiest, protection is good surfing/browsing/downloading habits coupled with strong javascript controls and an updated basic Windows Security running competently. After that, anything you add is going to require you to take extra steps to ensure it's working properly. (Not that adding additional security is ever a bad thing, it just has to be additional "good" security.)
