How do you change a pawn's traits mid-game?
I'm playing the Westerado mod and my best colonist has the frontiersman trait which makes him leave my colony. Is there a way to remove his trait or somehow recreate the character without the trait in dev-mode or the code?
引用自 Astasia:
Make a duplicate of your save in case you make a mistake, then open the save in Notepad++ and do a search for your colonist's name (first, last or nickname, whichever is more unique, they are stored on different lines so just look for one of them). You are looking for a <name Class="NameTriple"> nested inside a <thing Class="Pawn">, make sure it's not a "Tale" there might be a bunch of them that contain a <name Class="NameTriple"> with your colonist's name referencing various actions they took in the past.

Once you find the <thing Class="Pawn"> of your colonist, scroll down and you will see <traits><allTraits> followed by that colonist's traits. Replace the text between <def></def> of the trait you want to change to the def of the trait you want. You can look at other pawns in the save to see trait def name examples and just copy and paste one of them into the colonist you want to change. Some traits might also have a degree to consider, that's stored under the def and it changes between multiple traits on a trait line.

<def>Gifted</def>
<degree>2</degree>

That for example is the better skill learning speed trait, degree 1 is the less powerful learning speed trait, degree -1 is a learning speed penalty trait.

Saves are stored in the following folder:

Its part of the game, youre ruining the whole point of playing RW when you alter the storyline
When the game is openly moddable, there IS no "part of the game". :)

Youre taking shots because youre trying to start up something thats already resolved. So please stop
YOU stop. I wasn't starting up something that had (not at all) been resolved. I was rendering your entire argument moot from the get-go.

When a game is (intentionally) made moddable by the developers, there is:

(A) No "part of the game". Because parts can be ADDED or REMOVED via modding.
(B) No "play the game the way it was meant to be played". Because the way the game is played can be changed.

When a game is UNintentionally moddable (say, by hackers, against the will of the developers) the modders and the players who use such mods have a tendency to draw VAC bans. By all means, if anybody has ever got a VAC ban from Rimworld, drop me a line.

Be sure to read through the rest of the thread, it's rather amusing. :steamhappy:

(the general theme is whether or not it's cheating when the developer GIVES YOU the cheat engine right in the main menu........)

EDIT--ADVANCE WARNING: There's a video from My Little Pony in here. Figured you should be warned of that before reading through the thread........

It is still cheating, you have to activate a function in order to subvert the rules and give you an unfair advantage(I mean it's kinda unfair when some dirt poort raiders come and there stand some fully decked colonists ready to rip a new one). Wether the function was delivered with the game or not matters little, the vanilla game has rules, by activating dev mode you can subvert those rules and thus are cheating.

Wrong. When the developer GIVES YOU the console engine, that engine is PART OF said rules. Therefore you're NOT breaking the rules. Now, if the game doesn't give you a console engine? And you, say, create one? That's cheating.

Don't get me wrong--I don't actually care about cheating, it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ video game. It's academic to me. But there's a clear line on what is cheating and what is not. This game's dev menu is not.

Nope, you're trying to twist something to your advantage. Vanilla rules are, for example: Mine steel, use steel to build. Treating Injuries costs Medicine. These rules can be subverted with the help of the Dev tool. And as I already said, which you ignored, it doesn't matter if the developer gave you the tool himself, you are still subverting the rules of the game with it which has a specific name: cheating. Further, if you create a console engine it's not cheating, it's modifying the game. The console engine can then, in the modified game, be used to cheat.

Lol it's a single player game, why do you care?

I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ if somebody is cheating as long as it's not in a multiplayer game in which most agreed not to.
The problem is, he has a completly wrong definition of cheating and is trying to spread that. In Warcraft 3, Age of Empires1/2, you too had phrases that were given/inbuilt by the developers which instantly gained you resources, invincible, insta build, etc. they were still called "CHEAT CODES" and the act of using them is cheating, since the rules of the game were subverted, even if it was given by the developer.

Nope. Cheating is breaking the rules. The game developer writes the rules.

Rose by any other name. Instead of "cheat codes", what if they were called "totally fair codes"??

Ooh, what if they were called "GOP codes"! Does that mean you're a Republican if you use them?? Of course not!

Oh, wait, here's another one! What about the game "Screen Cheat"!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/301970/Screencheat/

How about that one? It has the WORD "cheat" in its name. Is it cheating?? Nope! Because watching everybody else's screens is PART OF THE DAMN GAME. It's part of the RULES. You're not breaking the rules, you're FOLLOWING the rules.

Don't even get me started on the game "Dude.....STOP". Lol.
czpetr 2019 年 7 月 18 日 上午 11:33
In singleplayer, you have no one to cheat against, thus, using developer mode to gain adventage is not cheating.

It's like you guys really don't understand what a definition is. Even if it is singleplayer, subverting the rules is cheating. It doesn't matter if the dev gave it to you, it doesn't matter if you have a real person as opponent(technically you have somebody to cheat against, namely: Raiders, Animals). The act of cheating simply focuses on one thing: Did you or did you not subvert the rules of the game.
In Screencheat it isn't cheating because the rules and the game state it is meant to be played like that. In Blacklight Retribution you had a function which let you see through walls for a limited time as well. It was not cheating as it wasn't against the rules nor did it subvert them as you were meant to use it. If you now hacked the game so you can use it indefinitly, then it is cheating as you subvert the rule of only having it for a limited time.
@GeneralVeers
Again you're trying to twist something to your advantage. It's part of the game and meant to be played like that. The codes in Warcraft are part of the game as well. The difference is that in Screencheat it doesn't subvert the rules as you are meant to play like that. In Warcraft you are meant to gather the resources as part of the rules, the code gives you the resources by subverting that rule and is thus cheating.
