steel slag chunks and steel chunks
what do I do with these? I can't seem to haul or interact with them on the map.

When you build electric smelter, you can smelt them to produce steel.

Components req an advance fabrication bench and takes around 15 metals to make 1 component.

Just in case - you can double-click on a slag chunk, it'll select all within range, you press the "P" key and it'll set them for hauling (as long as you have a storage zone ready to take them (which I've put as close to my smelter as possible).

I'm sorry, I meant ship chunks. These are laying around as well. I beleive they contain components. I've already mined all of the components on the map, and I need more.

Ship chunk, you deconstruct for scrap. If you want more components, you either need to trade or use the long range resource scanner.

I just want to make sure you mean "Long Range Mineral Scanner". That's the only thing close to what you said That I was able to find. Would this also find components or just minerals?

Yeah that’s the one. It can find the basic trading materials like gold, silver, steel, components, plasteel, etc. Note that there can be set as traps by enemy factions. The amt tends to be the size of a meteorite.

Also bring decent miners because if you attempt to mine plasteel, expect everyone to have breakdowns due to its insane hp.

Currently, I’m using it to get jade to make high beauty furnitures and statues.

I would advise to just buy steel and components from other factions depending on how you play since that scanner at best give you 1-2 a month and that’s pushing it. It need pretty high intellect pawns to get at a bit faster rate and that pawn will technically be out from doing other stuff.
