RimWorld

Mods for new players?
Following the influences of two magnanimous U-toobers I´ve decided to pick this interesting but terrifying title up.
I understand the game is quite moddable and that games like this typically have a lot of UI/quality of life-mods.

Any you recommend for a completely new player interested in a pretty vanilla, smooth yet challenging experience?

Will probably end up doing that, but occationally these games comes with "must-have"- mods that make things more managable and thought I´d pick the brains of you veterans. :)

Nah nothing like that, especially not with the game in the process of a version change.

Must-have mods are usually for games that have long since stopped updating. Rimworld is still in the process of being updated by the devs so not only are the mods not necessary unless you have a burning desire for feature X to be added, they're usually forced to update with each new update.

We're currently in the process of waiting for a new patch to come out in the next few weeks or so. I wouldn't recommend trying mods atm.

A17 is coming out soon, play vanilla for now. Or A17 unstable.

Good answers, many thanks, will attempt to master the basics until A.17 shows up. ^^

Once a17 is out the hospitality mod is generally a highly recommended mod

I'd recommend "Prepare Carefully' - you can modify the characters you start with and create superhumans if you want. Or a version of yourself, complete with the appropriate skills, and traits too!

Its great for getting a nice balance of skills in your starting colonists - which is what I like to do.

Play with no mods for at least 10-15 hours. If not more.
