Better Bedrooms
No matter what I do, my colonists always seem to hate their bedrooms. What are some tips to make them better?

carpet or stone tile. Have at least one high quality item like even the bed itself will count. Also make the room at least 7/7 though I think the devs should make this a little smaller because 7/7 rooms takes up a lot of room especilally on smaller maps. There is a mod that allows 5/5 rooms as the smallest one you can make without taking a hit to 'cramped environment" if you have someone who is a good artist you can stick a statue in the room.

this. and (iirc) build the bed in the middle of the room, and not on a wall

Quality of the bed matters also

add flower pots a table and a chair .. later art ( all good or better quality ) this will help a lot.

* Room sizes do matter, unmodded ist a 24 tile room is neurtal. (i would recoment a mod to make the rooms more manageable. )

* Floors have a impact, cheapest is smoothing natural rock, if your ut in the open (on dirt) go for tiles or carpets.

* dont put in tables or chairs. people wil wonder in to eat there and disturb the owners sleep. giving bad moods. rather have a better then normal bed and a art work (also better then normal)

* Keep the place clean.

in the lower right there is a (ver small) face like icon pessing that will alouw you too see the nice-ness/uglyness of places.

Colonists will only suffer "cramped spaces" thoughts if they're spending a prolonged amount of time in their room not sleeping, which shouldn't be the case. A small room is fine, but good-quality flooring and beds are vital for making them more impressive.

Scultures are the best for high beauty

2 things
One click on bed and look at tab to get a bedroom rating level
2 at the bottom of the screen right corner there is a head icon which shows the beauty values of everything in a room when the mouse is over said room

A good rule of thumb is have few items but good items. Furniture take up a tile (or 2) and deducts the room's spacing score. Of course going all out and making a larger bedroom works as well.

Things that matter:

- floor beauty rating
- wall beauty rating
- room size
- any item in the room
- dirt (and blood, and vomit etc.)

Things that don't matter:

- door
- temperature
- anything outside the room

The impact of wall beauty is minor in most cases. Nice floors are the simplest way to increase room beauty. High quality items can increase beauty and value of the room, but try not to stuff the room, as some items will take up space and decrease the size value of the room. Dirt decreases beauty and also reduces the cleanliness value of the room, so dirty rooms means a double (probably more) penalty to room quality.
