Wardens not feeding prisoners
I've got nearly 1000 hours of game play under my belt so I've pretty much got all the basic silly things that could happen under control. Yet this one has me stumped.

I'm playing using the Rim of Madness with Vampires and Bone harvesting of animals (which is really cool btw). I have three in a prison two humans and one vampire who pretty much rests all the time as he took quite a beating.

Both of the non vampire prisoners have feeding and medical priorities set that allow interaction with the warden and medical staff I've set up on the work tab. The vampire prisoner occasionally feeds on the other two then climbs back into bed. All prisoners are set to "reduce resistance" so the warden chats with them.

The situation I have now is this. Both human prisoners haven't been fed or cared for. Both are downed in the communal cell on extreme malnutrition. No-one, be it warden or doctor, makes a move to help them in any way.

I've tried to force numerous pawns to assist but nothing works, obviously I've reset work priorities but these don't help. One of the prisoners is close to resistance break and recruitment but it seems they'll both end up dying of malnutrition.

As an aside, this morning I noticed all colonists had the phrase, "work until completed" in their mini bio. I can force them to do other jobs in the colony but none of them will help the starving prisoners. I even drafted the warden and sent them into the cell then undrafted them thinking that might help.

Any ideas?

I've considered separate cells but that seems counter productive since the vampire needs to feed occasionally.

What food restriction prisoners have? Little oversight when making them and you can end with restriction that allows nothing to eat on top which is deafult for every new pawn, be it colonist, rescued or captured stranger

They aren't being fed because there isn't any of the prisoner food left in storage. there's no prisoner fool left in storage because you haven't ordered more prisoner food to be made. its not the game, its you that's the issue. tell your cook to make more food.

You did read the first line of my post right?

Perhaps I should clarify.

All of the animated meat pods in my colony, that is to say, colonists, be they human or undead, as well as prisoners in a cell, again human or undead, have a source of food that they can be fed from. As the incident happened in Spring and I was low on vegetables. Everyone, apart from the undead, were being fed simple meals. I have 40+ meals available on a daily basis for a colony size of 8 people and 3 prisoners. Meals were being prepared everyday to refill the quota.

All prisoners had the proper food restriction in place. The fact I couldn't R-click to force certain pawns to help the downed pawns in question bothered me. I'm surmising it has something to do with the vampire being in the same cell.

Once I'm back home I'll take another look. There's a Mod in the list somewhere causing a problem. I've worked as a Tester before and it bothers me there's something I'm overlooking, probably trivial.

Some possibilities (in no particular order):
  • Zoning issues. Sometimes a mis-click will leave a small hole in a zone that you did not intend.
  • Forbidden door. This happens more often than you might think, if you go by forum posts ^^'.
  • Bad work priorities for the warden. If it's too low, they'll never do the task. I haven't tried it in a loooong time, so I'm not sure pawns w/o "warden" as a work priority will feed prisoners at all.
  • Mod conflict(s). Even if working before, one or more of your mods may have updated, if you do not use local mods. That "work until completed" is new to me, so I feel this is very likely.
That's all I can think of, at the moment.

Edit -> You posted while I was writing this; yeah, it sure seems like a mod...

Other odd happenings using the the Rim of Madness Vampires Mod include visiting trade caravan members starving to death. They'd arrive, I'd trade (not buying all the food, before someone gleefully suggests it!) then they'd hang around. For days.... simply not eating.

Eventually, one or two would die whilst still having food on them. I know food restrictions could be an issue for player run caravans I've done it myself before when I first started playing, but this is seems to be a mod glitch or incompatibility issue.

My guess is the vampire mod is counting the living prisoners as "food" for the vampire, and since there is "food" in the cell they refuse to bring any more. If you make a couple medical prisoner beds you should be able to rescue and then force feed the prisoners. If that doesn't work the issue may be more serious.

I love the idea of the vampire mod, vampires are my thing, but I've found the mod far too buggy to seriously play with for any extended length of time, something always goes horribly wrong with it for me.

Even if it's not true, that's a great guess.

Umm. I guess I'm stupid.
How does the first line in your post relate to Freeasabird's message?

Depending on what you call the 'first line' it is either

That second one is a lie, of course, as here you are, with a basic silly thing NOT under control

If you still have this issue - have you tried adding a one-tile storage zone for prisoner food only into the cell? That way, your prisoners can serve themselves if necessary.
