I go with all granite; doesn't burn like metal or plasteel, and has the highest HP for stone.
indoors = steel
upgrade to plasteel when available
wood is nice for indoors when not under a mountain but if in a mountain you need the extra resilience instead of the flimsy wood
stone is treally slow tho so its not really worth the extra protection for a door that gets used more then a few times a day
even wih autodoors stone will be slower then a unpowered plasteel door
using it for walls is kindof a waste but its a great material for doors
Yes they are slower, but I'm willing to trade the speed for durability and fire proof. Much like why most of the base is stone with stone tiles. Keep fires from spreading too far, as well as strength.
Only exceptions are usually temp buildings or the infirmary which I focus on clean and infection reductions
For an outer door, the higher health it has the less likely raiders are to go for it compared to a random wall. If you have a plasteel door in your killbox and marble walls protecting your base, there's a good chance raiders are just going to decide to go through the first wall they see instead of trying to hit the door in your killbox. A wooden door is much better bait.
