If you have water you want removed, or mud. It turns it into soil. It just takes a season or 7

It allows to get rid of marsh or shallow water. Especially actual in boreal forests and jungles.

It cant get rid of deepwater? Really? Ive never used it on anything but mud.....

i had one patch of marsh in my way, so i threw one down, and it took like 2 years in game to pump it all to soil. i had moved way past the piont of needing the land anymore, but i figured it would be fun to see how long it took.

once again, being an alpha game is tough sometimes because you can build a space ship to fly off to another planet, but you cant pump some water away quickly?

hopefully there is a way to build a better one soon, or maybe have it be a variable speed depending on how much power you have to spare

so to answer your question, it depends on how you play. if you have a huge map, rush to tech, and move, and expand quickly, you probably wont ever really use it.

if you are playing on a relatively small map, it might be more useful to you. or if you found one perfect spot, that you absolutely need to build, or plant there. than yes it would be worth it. i however skip it every time now

I just tested it. It doesnt work on deep ocean, deep water, deep moving water, shallow ocean, and several spots of both shallow moving water and shallow water. I really thought it worked on all shallow water. It gets to its max diameter after one in game year.

Ive only ever used it to remove a few mud spots from my farm. Im kind of disappointed how awful it is.

To piggy back on jagroy, its only needed if its absolutely neccesary to convert a few tiles to soil because of a specific build, like a wall or a plot in the middle of your base thats mud.
ok good because i have been avoiding boreal forests due to all the marshlands but now yeah that might be pheasable for a large farm.

Don't count on it getting any better. It used to be much faster and worked on more terrain, turning areas into fertile soil, it was nerfed into the ground. The pump is essentially useless IMO for anything but removing like a single stubborn tile that gets in the way of your building project. If you want to make any real changes to the terrain you need a mod, or a ton of patience, resources and power if you really want to use the pumps.
