some help with temperature in walk in freezer?
My first time building a mountain base so not sure if that has anything to do with my problem. all 3 of the coolers are set to -100 (kept lowering it to try get the temp down) but the temperature in the freezer does not want to go down?

Exhaust. It should be in unroofed area.

It is actually simulating a Carnot cycle. The heat that you take out of the room to drop the temperature a degree has to go somewhere, so, you need to vent the heat to a large outdoor space.

Yep, this is the main issue. Something else to consider is 2x walls around the freezer.

Not necessarily large. I'm using 1-2 square "rooms" without a roof and it works.

Are you sure you actually did it? If you have overhead mountain there, you have a problem.

used a dev tool since there was an over head mountain.

all other freezers iv used on flat maps iv always roofed over and used 2 coolers at around -20 each and the temp always gone down and stayed down. not sure what the problem is with this one i have right now

A 1x1 unroofed room generally isn't enough for a cooler exhaust. Try at least a 2x2 unroofed area, or channel it all the way outdoors.

-100C is VERY cold. I'm not sure what the temperature is like elsewhere in the region, but each cooler can only cool a room by about 15 degrees or so. Also, dat heat has to go somewhere.

In an earlier version you could do what you're doing and just vent into a mountain. Now that is considered a roofed space so the heat has nowhere to go. You'll have to dig it out and remove the ceiling OR move the unit. And -4 degrees is probably plenty.

fixed, thanks for all the help ^^

Does insulation play a part in this game? All my coolers are surrounded by 1xthick wooden wall. My temps are almost never stable. I thought it was due to colonists going in and out all the time, which could be the case still.

Yes insulation is a thing. Material doesn't matter, but things like double walls or air gaps will help maintain lower temperatures. For a normal freezer it's not at all important unless you are on a super hot map (150F+), just add an extra cooler and don't worry about.
