Is there a way to make a kind of temp settlement?
what i mean is i'm kind of new to the game and so far i'm doing great however i do wish there was a way to explore the world map without makeing a settlement so i could mine and look for hidden things without haveing to restart my whole settlement

Two things, first in options you can increase the maximum available number of colonies so that you can make new outposts without deleting your original one and "restarting." But there is alsoooo...one sec

....this mod. If you're okay with modding and want something even more temporary than a second colony from the increased slider option.

I've heard there is a problem with setting up temporary colonies, is that even after you abandon them, the marker will remain on the map, dunno if this is or is still the case.

Its still an issue. If you dont mind the clutter on the world map, just make a caravan and settle where ever you want (make sure you have multiple colonies allowed). Mine, hunt, scavenge to your hearts content, then caravan it back to your main base. Then when the area is no longer needed, just abandon it (its an option on the world map, when you click the settlement). It leaves a little marker on the world map but thats it.

That mod (set up camp) seems to just remove the world markers for abandoned camps and removes the time limit for temp camps (i think. Never used it. Sounds nice tho)
