Put in floors, a small statue, a double bed, a dresser, and an end table and you've usually got a decent to somewhat impressive bedroom.
Edit: Just to illustrate, this is all it takes to make a mediocre room. I don't even have a small statue in the room.

You don't need that large bedroom. Max 5*5 interior (25 tiles if you don't want rectanglish.), but 4*5 interior is doing the work. I have 2 greedy pawns in 4*5 bedrooms (marble wall, marble floor, wooden beds, marble end table + dresser, marble sculpture): their mood is in the stars. I'm keep the 25 tile interior for jealous pawn (only 1 in each colony, but this is another story).
in fact, it's way nicer than my real room.
Please, post a pic of your real room!
Most stone block types(Bonus for marble) are abundant or if not at least easy to obtain even earlygame, and as long as you're not making art out of extremely expensive stuff such as e.g. jade or gold you don't end up with a bloated value either.
Unless you're at the point in the game where you're not really concerned with colony value anymore, at which point the more expensive the material, the better.
Next best thing is flooring. Wooden floors are fast and easy. Later on you want to make them out of stone tiles or carpet. Smooth stone though is the best so if that is what's under that wooden flooring, rip it up and smooth the stone. It costs you no resources and cannot be failed. Great way to level up a passionate unskilled builder!
Having clean floors is an ongoing task. If you recruit someone who is really good at a niche skill (melee, mining, medical, social) but not much else, assign them to be a dedicated cleaner. Joggers and sanguine are the two best traits for a cleaner.
Lastly is the size of the bedroom. You can get by with a 5x5 bedroom if you fill it with really nice stuff. My bedrooms are 6x7 but the 7 side is missing 3 tiles because I put cutouts into my rooms for furniture and as improvised cover in a fire fight. I'll show a picture later, but the size you are using is fine.
