Can't build cooler, even with the materials
I currently have a problem trying to build a vital cooler that was destroyed by some tribe without provocation.

I can see all 3 components the cooler needs in the storage area to the right.
The needed components are in two piles.
It has been days, and this error is not correcting itself.
Is there some way I can correct this error without needing to manually stack the components?
This problem happens over and over, and it's gotten to the point that it's really annoying.

Hmm. Well, your pawn isn't restricted in terms of where he can go, so it's not that. You've clearly got three components. You don't seem to be using any mods that prevent access to your storage since one image shows the pawn pathing to it. Your stockpile summary (top left) in the first picture show 3 components, so they're all the same and valid for use. The components could've been reserved by another pawn, but if you've been waiting for days, that can't be it.

I'm stumped. Only thing I can recommend, really, is to make a new, one-tile stockpile only for components, let the components be hauled there, and see if that triggers your pawns to recognize them.

Or, if you've gotten tired of waiting, you can turn on dev mode, then in the top bar turn on god mode, build the cooler (instant and free because of god mode, you may need to select to deconstruct the framework of the cooler first which should also be instant thanks to god mode), turn off god mode again, select the third icon from the left, and in the list of dev commands popping up select the one that says "Destroy", click the three components (be very careful not to click a pawn), right click anywhere to remove the Destroy command from your mouse button, then turn off dev mode again.

It's the prisoner bed that is messing it up. It took me a bit to figure it out.

Delete the prisoner bed and it should start working.

Make sure all zones are set well, that the pawn constructing the cooler can acceed the storage area. Often it's the range.
Other possibility, there are now salvaged components, used if you want. If these in your storage a salvaged ones, they don't work to build your cooler. They look similar, just other name.

The simpliest trick is to set a simple stockpile for components, just one tile, near the cooler, and set priority to critical. Set the priority in the storage room bit lower. The pawn should quickly move the components near the cooler, then construct it.

Sure, Ozymandia is right, didn't see first there is a prisoneer bedroll or bed. Uninstall.

Just wait until they say that didn't work. Then we will both be wrong D:

Thank you for your help. I made the prisoner bed into a colonist bed, then I removed it, but there was no change.

I have updated the pictures to show these changes.

I have added two pictures highlighting the components. These look like not salvaged components - I can't tell though since I've never seen a salvaged component. Are these the wrong components?

So far, it's not the prisoner bed.
Let me know of anything else I should try.
Thank you for your aid.

I currently have Lowell selected, and he has already charted a course into the storage area. This proves he can get to the storage area. I don't know how range plays into it, but the storage area is next to my house, and the cooler.

Have you tried deleting the entire storage zone then placing it down again? This might make the AI recognise what's there.

Also try the suggestion of a component only storage area.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thank you for your detailed analysis. Your suggestion that the components could be reserved for another colonist was correct. I have updated https://imgur.com/a/JJjECQq to show who the scoundrel was.
I suspect a different cooler elsewhere is set to be built, and although I have been waiting for days for that cooler to be built, this was the first time I aggressively tried to order a colonist to build it.
Aerrin Longheart Jun 18, 2020 @ 3:37am
After looking more closely at my entire base.. there are no other coolers that I have left orders to build. It seems some colonist finally got it into his head to start hauling the materials. <3

Heh. Well, so long as your issue is fixed, I guess. :)
