Getting uranium?

since epoe switched from using vancinidium (spelling?) with gold to uranium based components it's even harder to upgrade bionics.... after something like an ingame year or so I have found all of 11 uranium...


how is it done? which traders?

Deep mining is what I tend to use, bulk good traders usually sell them as well.

Drill for it. Very rarely I see trade caravans stocking it. More often it's available at a faction base when I send a caravan there. Occasionally a passing trader will have a supply. You can also keep your eye out for goods made from it. Statues, etc. They can be deconstructed to recover some. Probably smelting works for uranium weapons if you come across them.

A decent miner will on most maps be able to get a few thousand uranium from deep drilling. Be aware that once you start deep drilling into pockets of gold, uranium and plasteel, your colony wealth will explode and raids will jump sharply in difficulty.

do the uranium pockets come in a certain size? the silver seems to be in smaller deposits, but I haven't found any more yet

The uranium and gold pockets are roughly the same size usually. Generally in the 3-7 tiles range, very small.

The vegetable garden mods resource plants helps a lot too. You'll need a pretty big growing area to really make it worthwhile, but you end up with a batch of 400-500 uranium every season or so. You can also grow plasteel bulbs, which saves you a ton of cash.

I combined the vegetable garden resource crops with the super soil mod. I had like 400 of each resource crop on like 800% soil. Still wasn't worth it. You are much better off deep drilling around your map, then setting up temporary mining colonies on other maps if you still need more.

Resource crops were balanced for a time when resources were very limited and traders were the only way to get more. It's still an interesting way to get resources, and fun to play around as a handicap, but it's no longer "current" and there are much easier and faster ways to get essentially unlimited resources in the game.
