I believe it allows you to have your name in the game and such. I agree, a waste of money.

It's a donation pack. You donate a large chunk of money to the game, and in return you get immortalized in it with a name and backstory on a character. It's like being put in the credits.

Whether it's a "waste of money" or not depends on if you think donating money to help projects you care for is wasteful or not.

You can already put your name in the game. And any other name you can think of. As for the backstory, there are already so many.

It's still easier than looking up the company name, looking up the company address and mailing the dev a cheque.
