Proformence Hotfix Issue
I am losing alot of proformence with the additonal stress to cpu. My old 750ti 2GB card was more than enough, 20 person raids are now slow my computer down to a stutter (which for me isnt even late game).
vinilla install of the game.
set up:
amd 8320 oc 5.1 ghz
750 ti
16GB Mem
Game is installed on a SSD by itself.
Ubuntu 16.04 (also on its own ssd).

I dont know what you moved over to cpu, but whatever it was its eating my cpu. If at all possabile can be make this "Hot fix", a toggle option.

Right click game in library, properties, betas tab. Select the 17a release.

Thank you for your reply.

Non solution, reason, Dev has not given in indication that a perm fix or a toggle option will be added down the line... From the devs update notes it looks like the dev has little plans on doing further work on the issue. Which means i would be permantly stuck on 17a. Atleast thats how I interpate the devs update notes. Thus is a problem and i have offered a solution. But other solutions would be nice.

I understand that my point of view is rather ruff, but being a customer of the gaming industary for over 20 years can do that even to the best of us. I am not saying im right or wrong in my views or attitude. Just callus shrew, who errs on the side of caution.

No other solutions?

Disable plant sway in graphics, avoid lots of animals living on your map. And i've heard that removing "chunks" helps with reducing performance issues.

Outside of that it's basic stuff like reducing resolution sizes and playing on smaller maps.

Could try asking on the ludeon forums, the devs don't respond to posts on steam.

sounds like a male enhancement drug.

thank you,
however before that patch, I was able to handle 80 person raids (though thats the highest I have ever had to deal with and it ran smooth, now.... well 20 person raid before having hard reset my machine. really dont see how plant sway would effect anything since it didnt on 17a nor blocks. I will none the less take your advice.

Do you have turrets? I've seen reddit threads where people have mentioned that turrets seem to tank performance in A17 for some reason.
Fable Jun 18, 2017 @ 3:01pm
my problem is hot fix, I never used a whole lot of turrets, just in key areas defensable areas, usally no more than 5 or 10 (late game) turrets total I am pretty much stuck to low diffculty settings to reduce raid size. I know its raids because if i use the manhunter pulse and all the animals come after me there is NO slow down.

A 20+ Caravan i dont have an issue ether, its just raids. Even attacking a caravan doesnt cause a tank unlike raids do. Its just raids. Litterally getting raided causes me to have to hard reset. Thats not good for any OS, before the hot fix everything ran perfectly. Moving grass, lots of animals, living where ever i feel. I cant even make it to Late game before having to do a hard reset.

maybe to high settings on your settings for your graphics card depends what system your using
ps if you use the dev to remove all plants that does make some maps better for awhile since all the stuff is in loads of lines of texts and just reduces whats having to be prossesed by the game engine :)

~sighs~ its not the moving grass.... or graphical setting............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ All of thoughs where fine before the hot fix.......... read please read. before the hot fix. Before the hot fix the game didnt even break 3 percent of my cpu. Now it during raid of 1 takes 25 percent. without the raid about 2, caravans same, events/disasters same.... litterally just raids... Before the hot fix 80 plus raiders took about 40 percent of my cpu and light amount of shutter but only if i was payiing attention to it. Now 20+ raids require hard reset..

At this point I am repeating myself I have Isolated the issue... It is not grass, it is not objects it is LITERALLY raids. Only raids, and how it effects the cpu, due to hot fix peroid.

So just in case I decided to test it, given the advice given over and over...... Guess WHAT! RAIDS! So for the next person that says, graphics adjustments here is what i have to say "here is your salt, go away.".

============
to take it one step further here is what is on for debug:
Enable Damage
Enable Player Damage
Enable Storyteller
No Animals
Draw Things Dynamic
Things Printed

Option Settings:
Game volume all the way down (assuming zero or disabled)
Music Volume " "
Fullscreen 1920x1080 (not my max, just display max)
UI Scale 1x
Autosave Interval 1 day (perma death requirement)
Dev Mode
everything else off or to its lowest fesable state.. lets see what happend hmm welp a raid of size 20+ and i had to do a hard reset wow... That wasnt expect was it ~sarcasm~. thank god for text editors.

Got any mods running friend? Im starting to have stutters and slowdowns too. The FPS tanks from 144 to 10-15 after i get myself up to 6-7 colonists. Was totally fine with 20 colonists and a big raid. Before the hotfix landed.

Been seeing a lot of people mentioning mod orders and behavior or pathing mods requiring a lot of processing power. For some reason. Maybe a mod is affecting your raids?

Hopefully someone can find a solution that works.

Its a shame this game is kicking up issues now after the passed handfull of alphas running without a hitch in my personal experience.

Would this game even need/use a GPU?
GuessMDK Jun 19, 2017 @ 2:21pm
When i notice the lag during raids, i just go to task manager and set the games priority to high. It usually fixes it.

Do you have an elaborate defense set up? Maybe the pathing from the 20 raiders is becoming a strain to compute.

James no it doesnt, thats why it was managing AI and pretty much everything else, Typically 5 turrets ten before hotfix but that was late game so nothing fancy just effective., and in hallway like areas, nothing too fancy just enough to shoot fish in a barrel. It doesnt need to use if the gpu could handle everything. I will test the priority and get back to you on that.
Sad Cat Jun 19, 2017 @ 6:22pm
I'm having similiar issues. Usually I have no problem until year 4 or 5, and thats when things just suddenly out of no where decide to stutter like crazy. I've dialed back the mods and uninstalled several that I don't really need, but that hasn't changed anything. I even went so far as to disable every single mod, but it still stutters like crazy on those saves.

I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't a problem with the base game at this point.
