How to extend range for powering items?

Ive just gotten to a reliable source of power now, and i see theres a super short range to powering objects from the actual source of electricity... Should i just place batteries all over the place? Im kinda iffy about that idea because i have the bad luck of suffering battery explosions fairly often. Whats the best solution to get max range out of my power source?

Just noticed they could hook to the conduits. Not sure why they were choosing to go straight to the source prior, thats really odd. Thanks anyways!
