I underestimated the new [Blood Rot] disease...
I picked up a couple of prisoners with Blood Rot for a shot at a nice big TV. Only had to fight off some mechs and tend once a day, easy, right?

-assumed it was like gutworms
-left prison unfloored
-didn't enable medicine on prisoners
-doctor rubbed them on the belly or something once a day to 'tend' to it
-disease exploded up to 100% very quickly and one died (the second guy just walked out of prison and out the map, taking his chances in the wilds instead of my prison, lmao)

Rip my TV

Disease mechanics in spoilers for anyone who enjoys finding out new stuff themselves, nothing too special though.
Turns out it has no immune factor, but has a % progress (from 0.1% to 100%)
Progress gains or reduces depending on tend quality, so poor quality means they will get worse until they die.

Blood Rot is one of the new diseases that only appears from quests. Both animals and humans can have it. Low tend quality rapidly increases progress rate with guaranteed death at 100%. It takes less than 2 full days at 0% tend quality for Blood Rot to hit 100%. Above 70% tend quality instead of just staying flat it starts to go down. The higher the tend quality the faster it goes back down. Blood Rot will not cure itself, though I imagine healer mech serums will cure it.

23 days means A Lot of medicine is required, probably proper medicine too and not just herbal medicine unless you have amazing doctors. If you have the resources and skilled doctors to do it, then it is absolutely doable.

Made the same mistake. and it costs 10 gliter to cure it

That's the problem with many quests, they're simply not worth the hassle.

Had this happen to me too.

Any time you see Blood Rot, it means 1 medicine per day per victim. I got offered one recently that had 3 victims and would have cost me 54 medicine total.

That’s quite doable once you are making your own medicine from home-grown herbal meds, but prohibitive when you’re still buying it from traders.

I do agree with Vattende. About 75% of the time I don’t care about the rewards enough to pursue the quest, even if it’s fairly easy. Royal Favor may even be a drawback since an increase in rank leads to demands for a better bedroom and throne room.

Though I will point out that quests that generate a temporary map - treasure stash, attack hostiles - have the hidden reward of whatever’s lying around on the map. Early in the game a load of steel and cloth can make a quest more appealing. I snagged an Excellent quality steel bed from one. Which isn’t a big deal late, but is nice when your builder is still making Poor and Normal beds.
