Prison design, separate rooms or one big?
I didn't have many in my latest colony but when I had 2 one of them had a mental break and started hitting the other one and when I went in with an armed pawn to beat him down he took the prisoner's leg off with a gun.. in melee.. so I would like to keep them healthy until harvest or selling

personally i just have one huge unlit room with sleeping spots on the floor, if you want to recruit just give them a colonist's bed

Sounds comfy ^^ but I think my human leather bedrolls are better than sleeping on the floor and they meet their comrades too!

Depends on your difficulty settings. If you get too many raids or hostile pawns coming to your base then large prison. But for easy or peaceful setting, I'd say around 4 beds prison but your hospital should have more beds depending on how many pawns you have.

My prisons have all been large, well-furnished individual cells. Any time prisoners share a cell, it means one escapee lets them all out, making the prison break much worse. Mood affects recruitment speed, so the better the cells, the less effort required to recruit them.

A big multi-bed cell only makes sense if you plan on getting rid of them rather than recruiting them.

If you keep them separate, when they escape, will they all escape, or just a few?

This is the thing! If one escapes, they all can escape, even from different cells. This doesn't seem fair. It seems unmanageable and unrealistic.

That is solved by a lock mod isn't it?

Yes, I understand that. But for something like this, I prefer to stick with vanilla mechanics.

True it is unfair and a bit dumb but I guess we only have the mod for it

One big room for the prisoners I want to recruit, 2x2 rooms for prisoners I want to sell/harvest.
