RimWorld mythbusting, and what's been important to us recently
It's a pinned one. You can't miss it.
Currently it has not been on sale.
However it will be, some day in the future. But when? We don't know.
So you will have to wait until you see the price you are willing to buy.
Good luck!
Please note there are sides that defend the price, and there are sides that find it too much. This is mostly personal, depending on the games you like, and things in the game you value.
Neither side will ever be 100% right.
Sure, maybe you'll save $10-15 if you wait another year or two, but you won't have the entertainment of the game to enjoy.
This has been one of those, "Is the sun coming up? What time is it? I better get a couple hours of sleep before work." kind of games for me.
"I'll just do one more day real quick first..."
if the price prohibits you from buying it, then it may be a while.
you may want to check out other games in the mean time and stop thinking about this one so you won't obsess about not having it yet.
What i do know though, is again, since ive owned it, it may have only been on sale once but again it may have been the dlc that i saw as on sale and not the base game.
But, rimworld most certainly pays for its self at its price at some point if you dont wind up getting frustrated at not understanding the game first.
But theres also been a billion other people who have asked if rimworld ever goes on sale. In which im pretty positive the dev pinned a pretty vague thread on in the steam forums :D
https://steamdb.info/search/?a=app&q=rimworld
This is misinformation. And a little bit bashing at the dev.
A pinned topic says it will. Ever.
At the other side of the coin, it's a game in an open market. Tomorrow it can be 60,50,20? The price is free to choose. By the company.
If you put 3(?) years of development, you archieved something.
I think, personally, that the dev is free to choose the price of his game. As anyone can buy it yes or no.
Remember that you are free to gues how many you would like to spend on this game. And decide if you want it.
Some info regarding 1.1/dlc:
I made a game back in 2008-2010. It was a browser game. I really loved it. And I had a decent small private userbase. It was amazing to see all players play and enjoy it.
One time I added some new content in the game. Splitting the userbase in two groups. Those who liked it, those who don't.
In the end I made two servers for them.
And I kept making new content for the game. But I never released it. Afraid of splitting more of my userbase. So it died end of 2012. Never got a penny for it,as browser games are free. But it landed me a nice job. :)
who ever sold you on this fallacious line of reasoning?
it also doesn't determine if someone should suggest the game for others to buy.
it also doesn't determine product, price, placement - the 3 basics p's of marketing and if the target consumer is a likely 'target consumer'
in fact, the only thing playtime does is show that you had the game running and steam recognized it to be true, for at least 226 hours.
