What's so special about Lavish meals?
Other than the 10 mood buff what's so special about Lavish Meals?
Takes 2x the amount of meat and veges comprared to the "Fine Meals" which provide a 5 mood buff

Seems to me Lavish meals is a waste of food, am i missing something about Lavish meals?

Nope, it's only for the mood buff, if you have a very productive colony and dont want all your colonists snorting coke when something goes wrong you can use lavish meals.

It has the highest nutritional value of any food in the game thus far.

So it does make my coloniest healthier?

Mentally healthier, and, if your colonist is starving yes, literally healthier

no, nutritional value is used to fill the "hunger" bar. Since you use more ingredients its value should, naturally, be higher. (Compare eating a burger (simple meal) to a 5-star- french-cuisine-meal.

TL;DR: It means it's more filling than a simple meal, even a simple meal is still enough for a normal hungry colonist (i think).

Actually IRL a lot of those fancy restaurants have DAMN tiny portions :p

In the game, it's a good tradeoff if you're really cranking out crops, 5 more mood for a tiny bit extra work and stuff that would overflow your freezer anyway, hey, why not...

OBVIOUSLY if you don't have the extra crop production stick to the fancy meals for half the materials. There's a tiny difference (.85 simple/.90fancy vs 1.0 lavish) in nutrition but that's so small a difference I probably wouldn't even notice it in play...

when you have too many meat and veggie in the late game, this should help reducing the stockpile mess.

I'll make them when there is an insane harvest and we need to clear out freezer storage space. They certainly aren't something I'd mess with over fine meals unless things are quite well.

as of right now its just the mood buff , if you have some spare recources make a small stack of them in your freezer and forbid them to colonists , if one has a almost breakdown you can make him manualy eat it for the 10 extra mood to stop a totally breakdown.

i do the same with Beer. giving a totall of 18 Mood (13 if you normaly use fine meals) which is the difference between a colonist doing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for half a day ripping off his clothes and needing rescue after exhaustion or just walking it off..... or in this case eating.
