Romance in Rimworld
I'm just wondering if there is some sort of mod or edit that can tone down the frequency of pawns attempting to start a romance. My male pawns seem to attempt to start one about 2-4 times daily, and it usually results in all the female pawns hating them, and them getting really depressed for some reason.

They even attempt to kindle a romance if said pawn is gay or married/in a relationship

Hell, I started a new game, three freshly marooned pawns, and one immediatly starts hitting on the others. Like, you would think that after the destruction of your ship, you would focus on building shelter and not flirting.

There's one that reduces the mood penalty to only one stack. Forgot the name of it, but should be easy to search for on the workshop.

you could also try psychology mod but that changes a lot of other things too

Actually IIRC some individuals just attempt more romances than others (it's a hidden random stat) so you may just have some super-optimistic colonists at random. Play a bit more, some other people will show up and act differently.

I think there needs to be degrees of variation in "romance".

Flirting could be introduced as a sort of thermometer for the pawn to find out if another is interested in them, which would then lead to "romancing" if the other pawn flirted back.

No one outside of a few stupid individuals actually just goes all out and tries to "romance" other folks in small communities when they've barely talked to them.

In large groups like cities yeah it can happen, but not when you have 3 people.

Well in the scenarios given it's presented as your colonist at least know each other a little bit due to being together onboard a spaceship, or lived together as a tribe.

So technically they do have some knowledge of each other?

It is annoying when they try for a year or two and are constantly rebuffed. It should at least stop after a certain number of attempts as it can lead to be the longest lasting debuff in the game (that I know of) besides pain.

The psycology mod I believe has a personality attribute that will factor in romantic attempts (the kinsey scare determines what gender the colonist will romance) If the attribute (I think it's called Romantic but not checking, as I have the lazy trait) is "more" or "very" or "less" etc that will affect their attempt frequency.
