How the hell do you beat Scythers?
In the previous version of the game, I beat any psychic ship that came crashing down, and exterminated any lifeforms that got out of it as I attacked the ship. But now, even with 6+ colonists with good weapons, the Scythers still manage to kill all of them. I'm behind cover, and I do take advantage of my surroundings (corners and such) so...

Help? :D

I try to have snipers vs scythers. The range allows you to fire a shot, pause, move your sniper out of harms way, repeat. It's tedious but it seems to work quite well.

depends on what you have to work with ..but

*IED's ( explovsive ) take those and put 5-6 around the ship before you attack it this is super effective.

*build a powerline to the ship and move your turrents there

*Snipers ... 2-3 of them and move them when they about to get attacked

* EMP granades stun them so stun and let the pawns shoot them up

* Morters .. you need 2-3 and a lot of shells ( they miss a lot )

also if you go with *just* gun armed pawns take your time and build some sandbags they help a bit.

I always just build a room around the ship, two blocks thick granite or whatever is best, leave two spaces around the inner room and the ship itself, also have long corridor with a door at the end. Fill that room up with incendiary IEDs, watch carefully because this can be very dangerous for colonists.

When that is all done equip your fastest (or most useless) colonist, and have them shoot the ship from the doorway of the corridor, then run. The cyborgs will will set off the traps and take massive burn damage. Just set up your shooters before hand and they can take them when they break down the walls, or set up explosive IEDs around the ship/kill room, whatever works for you.

Tend to damage the pod at range to see what and how many mechs am dealing with. Once I know that, SOP typicaly goes like this:

Use 1 colonist with a shield and stand behind cover just outside of their agro range. Make sure he has room and can break LoS if need be. A 1x3 wall is enough even if all you do is have him move back and forth looking out the two sides. With rocket users, an L or U pattern wall works to shield your guy from blast damage. The rest of the shooters have sniper or survival rifles and fire from range. They are free to shoot since the AI will focus on the closest target. Have all your shooters focus the same target. Obviously, make sure your decoy pawn doesn't have movement penalties in case it has to get out of there quickly.

Build 2x3 Wall as cover , preferable stone , add roof area for darkness bonus , take one useless brawler , clad him in best armor and shield and set him there.... use colonists with Assault rifles further away then melee guy who draws fire now to gun down enemys.


never had problems with scythers , more with centerpedes with inferno canons..

I usually build walls for cover around the ship beforehand, then my 4-8 colonists take them out easily. This way i've never lost a colonist.

Pretty easily, actually. Just attack them from a distance behind sandbags and you should be fine. Quick word of advice: Never attack them from melee range. Never. They will give your colonists the best anatomy class they've ever had before they can do some real damage to the scyther.

What i tend to do is a single colonist with a power shield in full cover. Trees or sandbags. Then focus fire with the other colonist. It is risky but for me even late game effective. Otherwise snipers.

I used two colonists with EMP grenades using walls to get close enough to throw and popping out to do so at the same time. With the other four using whatever long range weapons were available to down them once they were stunned. The EMP guys took some damage but I managed to neutralise the Scythers in short order.

I used the More Vanilla Turrets gun complex, but if you're playing vanilla, use the EMP mortar to stun it while regular colonists or turrets shoot it.

My colony got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over because of a room with 2 scythes and 2 weird larva with guns also all the people that got up from crypto sleep died they took 1 of each enemies but my colony is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ now
