1.1 best gear for everyday wear (armor wise)!
So, not factoring in protection vs cold or heat, ive been using tribal wear and simple helmets as my bulk storage for general wear.

Is there something better i can use as my all the time gear in terms of helping my pawns be tougher to damage from social fights and manhunter attacks and just surprise attacks I dont have the time to re outfit for?

cataphract, if you can afford it, is the best - you will never have time to equip armor when enemies drop on your head. there is no reason not to equip cataphract helm.

Best power armor helmet you can afford, they have no penalty to wear.

A set of devilstrand shirt, pants, and duster with a flak vest and simple helmet will keep your colonists decently protected and insulated with minimal movement penalty is a good default set for midgame.

By the later game, you'll see more raids drop in the middle of your base and won't have time to switch. So you'll want your frontline fighters to stay in marine or cataphract armor while the rest can just use recon armor which still gives good protection but won't hamper their productivity between raids.

oh ok, right now every one of my pawns but 2 have bionic legs. and 3 have the jogger trait. so those 3 should be the ones in marine armor i bet?

your hunters that need to run from revenge, is it bad to slow them down with armor?

For early-mid tiers and general use before advanced armors... Pants, Button shirt, cowboy hat, flak vest, duster. This will cover torso with 3 layers, arms with 2 layers, legs with 2 layers. Simple helmet can replace the cowboy hat, but it doesn't protect ears. If made from Devilstrand or other higher tier material it protects almost as well as some of the lower tier full body armors while having few movement penalties.

Unlike some of the late tier armors, most of this can be obtained fairly early on, although rushing to devilstrand can result in increasing your wealth value more than your current defenses can reasonably support.

ya i havent focused on any armor you cant make out of the forge. but buy the helmets when I can.

I always focus on getting all my pawns a full scope set of bionics before crafting my own power armor is how i usualy play.
