Switch Off Lightning - devmode or mod?
Is there a devmode to switch off lightning in Dry/Rainy Thunderstorms? Or, a mod?

I play vanilla but I'll install a mod just for the sheer stupidity of thunderstorms for the sake of, well, thunderstorms.

Every time I see these fancy thunderstorms, it goes for days, and I fast-forward the game. Basically stop playing the game because the fire/thunderstorm/rain cycle goes on and off for days. Dogs can die, pawns can go hungry ... I don't play the game until the thunderstorms silliness stops. It breaks the game for me.

Is there a way to remove this feature? Game of lightning not playable for me unfortunately.

Thanks.

- Open debug actions menu (fourth panel)

Aside from using the dev console, your current game in progress will keep having occasional storms. However, you can edit a scenario before starting your new game.

- select a scenario
- click on scenario editor (bottom)
- click on "edit mode" (just below the 3 top left buttons)
- click on add part (first of the new buttons)
- add "disable incident"

What you are looking to disable would be rainy thunderstorm and dry thunderstorm.

Edit: when trying it out now, I only see flashstorm. Maybe that would suffice. Maybe not?

Thanks. Is this restricted to starting a new game only? Does not work, therefore, for mid-game changes (i.e. devmode)?

It is new game only, unless you want to go through the hassle of editing your save file.

The way to do that is:
1. BACK UP your save file to somewhere else on your drive first!!
2. Start a new game with that edited scenario.
3. Save that game and exit Rimworld.
4. Go find that new save game and and edit it with something like notepad++, find where that line of code (xml) is located, copy it out of that file.
5. Go into your old save and find the correct location where you found the code in that new game and paste that code into your save game.
6. Start your saved game and you should be good.
7. If that doesn't work, delete the edited save and paste your back up back in the save file location. Then either try again, or just wait until you start a new game.

@BlackSmoke - quite literally editing the entire thing step-by-step, lol.

@Gentle Giant - your approach seems more, shall we say, gentle? :-)

Thanks lads.

I can confirm that disabling flashstorm does not disable all lightning weather events. I only got a few days into spring before there was lightning.
