The best thing to do to speed things up is to click on every colonist and add him to the caravan (shortcut M). The when the caravan is about to leave, remove the colonists (shortcut U) that are not joining the caravan. This will speed things up greatly.
Assign everyone temporarily to "hauling" priority 1.
Also make sure to pack just after breakfast, less problems that way especially with big maps.
Make sure the stoners get their fix or low mood characters get smashed on alcohol before while on the map so that they can finish their work and walk out of there before a mental break. Mental breaks off map are less likely to happen and dont stop the caravan completely from moving so I sometimes send those pawns out. Get a drone event, send the gender pawns that are being hammered down out of the area, its something Ive done plenty.
I had the same problem earlier today and ended up doing that and after waiting about 12 in game hours the caravan decided to leave. Check the pathing of the colonists in the caravan to see if they are trying to leave map or not. Sometimes you gotta add more colonists to trigger the others to start moving to edge of map. The rest will start coming once one is waiting at edge. None leave until they all together tho.
It was quite a few different things I was needing to collect and did get a dozen or so animals with me. So the high amount of stuff would've slowed it down a bit but yeah basically don't start a caravan until your colonists you want staying in there are in a good mood. Not just neutral but at least content, otherwise they may have a mental break before they leave. But they do still eat and sleep though while in the caravan before it has left.
