1. You have a pawn (one who is able to hunt and is able to bear arms) who you have designated as a hunter by giving them a priority for Hunting in their work schedule.
2. You have scheduled their work/anything/recreation/sleep times in the Restrictions tab. Also in Restrictions, you have made sure they may move anywhere on the map.
3. You have armed them with a gun, preferably a rifle or a better long ranged weapon.
4. You have selected an animal or number of animals and tagged them to be hunted.
You may now leave them to do it themselves.
Or
You may select the pawn and then rt click on the tagged animal, to order it as a priority task.
Or did you click on the pawn and hover over the animal, and look for a shoot button, not enough specifics so we can't really help you here
They will shoot at designated animals to be hunted all by themselves if you have done as grapplehoeker suggested.
Note: For each pawn you can designate what their behavior should be when they are attacked. Click on the pawn and it's there on their "unit card" somewhere. (Can't recall atm) I don't know if pawns designated as Hunters who are Hunting are effected by this mechanic, but "just in case" make sure you don't have them set to "flee." Can't remember, but I don't think it will effect Hunters quite like that, but I'm just trying to cover all the bases. :)
It’s making me pull my hair out. (The last of it that is, or eat my beard)

When you say "designated classed as recon snipers" what do you mean?
If it's some sort of "mod thing" just keep in mind that pawns can't do two "Jobs" at the same time. So, if they're doing some sort of Work that includes a currently active job like "recon" they won't do a "hunt" job unless Hunting is at a higher priority and there's currently a hunt job task that isn't currently being done by another pawn. (That hunt job would be per specific eligible animal.)
I couldn't see/load whatever was in the link. Could be a high-volume issue on Steam atm.
PS: A Sniper Rifle is a great weapon, but it'd really have to be in the hands of a top-ranked shooter if they're hunting with it. The rate of fire and effective range issue could be problematic for some faster-moving, aggressive, animals. A Bolt Action Rifle is generally one of the best choices for Hunters. If you're flush with all sorts of weapons, an Assault Rifle isn't too bad, either, in the right Hunter's hands. I still prefer Bolt Action, but that's just "me." :)
True!
(PS: Didn't get to clear things up in the now-locked thread. :) No worries, just imagine a really nice reply post. ;))
