Healer Mech Serum - a critique?
I've never had one till now (actually, I have 2!!!). So, like a kid in a toy store ... what's the best use-case for this thing?

I've done the bionic and archotech bits on most (not all) of my pawns and I'm considering a good figther/miner's poor "Mangled scar" brain working on 40% efficiency. This pawn was great until this. I know there isn't any best use-case but is what I'm considering a big "NO!"? Am I missing anything with these healer mech serums?

This miner/fighter pawn has "tortured artist" trait. Will that be affected in any way? (I know it's new to 1.1 but just in case someone has had some experience on it).

Thanks.

Healer Mech Serum. Two! Those are priceless.

They will not affect traits like your 'Tortured Artist' trait.

They will magically remove a random health condition.

I hold onto all of them because eventually someone will get brain damage or dementia, frail from old age. Something uncurable without Healer Mech Serum.
You have to be careful. They remove one health condition so it's best to fix all other health problems if possible before administering the serum.

Yeah, a brain injury would be a solid choice for a healer mech serum.

Reserving the serum for any injuries which can't be healed by easier methods is a logical general rule. Brain injuries are high on that list. Something like "Frail" as well. Or missing bodyparts for body purists.

Do keep in mind that the serum heals the pawn's most serious injury. That's unlikely to be an issue with the brain injury, since it's quite serious, but if that pawn also has a missing limb or lung, for instance, I'm not sure which it would pick. Probably one of those actually, since the brain injury is technically just a "scar." So when in doubt, always best to take care of the other injuries first by more conventional means before using the serum.

I don't think I've ever had a tortured artist pawn, but as far as I know, healer mech serum has no effect on traits.

^--- This is the answer to every "What should I do with a Healer Mech Serum" question.

And... by the end of the game I usually have at least one still left unused. :)

He's sorted on all the limbs / other injuries. Just his niggly brain ...

Right. Thanks lads. Will give it a go and see if this artist changes to an optimist ... overnight, lol.

Edit: Yep, scar removed. Emotional traits remained.

@TwoTonGamer - Priceless, eh? Why do you think I'm spending effort asking the forum before I use the darn thing, lol. I haven't seen any in over 1K hours but voila, now I have 2?!!!

You can find those in shrines scatter around different maps, the chance is like 1/20

Yeah no

Anyway, brain injuries is the go to. BUT, if your pawn has other injuries, it might heal those first. So save scum or wait till you can heal everything else first.

I give it to my colonists that are missing entire limbs, because that affects movement or manipulation. Esp if it turns out my highest level builder lost an arm or hand, but any one of the colonists could benefit from having those hands and feet back. This is prior to getting bionics or bionic parts, of course, since those things would be better than regular organic limbs.
