Wait until the muscle parasites go away. Or install a bionic spine to cure bad back, and install bionic limbs to get rid of scars if possible.

its been a while and i dont see anything about how long they take to go away on the wiki

how long should they be in bed rest?

I think the pain from the muscle parasites coupled with bad back and frail is completely incapacitating your colonist.

If your colonist is not completely incapacitated please check their "Bedrest" priority in the "Work" tab. Change it to lower than anything else and IF they are able to walk then that should get them up.

You can check the colonists health tab and you may see their movement stat reduced to zero. You can hover the mouse over that stat to see a detail on what is affecting it.

They should recover with herbal medicine when the muscle parasites have run their course. Unfortunately muscle parasites do take a while to pass.

they arent incapcitated its just that their movement is at zero -30 bad back -30 frail - 30 parasites ->10 scar (the scar also happened to be on a leg)

its jsut i cant get rid of any of those things and the muscle parasites just wont go away

Time does not matter. Muscle parasites will go away, when sum of treatment quality reaches 300%. With good doctor/medicine, you might need as little as 3 treatments total.
If you want to see current progress towards healing, activate dev mode, then go to health tab, check DiffDebugInfo mark. You'll be able to see totalTendQuality done on muscle parasites

Cool. So that's why I've had some colonists have these parasites for what felt like years. No medicine.

Kill him/her right away if you're struggling to develop because he/she is practically a parasite to the colony, nearly zero production value during that time (no ethical issues since it's just a game); even if you're not struggling to survive, consider him/her an infant, an in-game handicap or something similar for your game and simply forget about him/her.

The pawns are already a big issue themselves so keeping things simple is a better choice

This is why I turn off muscle parasites in my games. On top of everything else, they're just one frustration too many. Especially if you've only got one or two characters early in the game and don't have good medical skills or medicine. Have fun getting half the work done as you normally would for a good year or so.
