Pawn don't play chess

I don't ever see my pawns play chess, I had 2 chess tables and my pawns rather starve of rec, they will play horse shoes though, so what is chess for.

Chess and poker tables both fill the same rec type, and poker is much better at doing so and is preferred by pawns if available. Otherwise did you put chairs facing the table?

I'm not 100% sure it needs chairs but I always build stools/chairs with it and they do use the table when it has chairs.

I can confirm with almost absolute certainty that it needs chairs. I built a lone chess table, but everyone kept complaining they were bored still, even though nobody had maxed out their cerebral play yet. Once I added chairs to the chess table, people started using it and I could see they were getting cerebral recreation.
