How can i take on a larger army with an assault?
Im kinda bored of being the good guy and want to fight. how can i handle it? Also, if you kill off a faction base, does that base dissapear? Also does the damage from your last battle remain at a outpost?

1) remember you only need to kill half before they shatter and abandon their base or assault. I like to use boomrats personally (10-20 boomrats with 4 handlers to kill a base) :P

2)The base wont disappear after destroying it, you'll see some ruins on the map.

3)Idk about this one.

I've had great success assaulting enemy positions from range with bolt-action or sniper rifles.

The enemy pawns seem reluctant to come out of their base, and when they do, they generally don't all gather up and rush en masse. If they attack, it will be piecemeal. Defeat in detail.

You can bring stuff with you, such as steel to build sandbags, or even prefabbed turrets (just bring a power source along!) to build a fortified assault position.

And DEFINITELY bring pack animals so you can cart loot home! I've gotten four or five hundred pieces of steel just from deconstructing the sandbags in a conquered enemy camp.

Assaulting a tile: (mission or base attack, same rules)
  • Use sniper rifles to pip out any vulnerable power supplies.
  • Mortars with incendiary rounds are totally worth it, if your only goal is to destroy the enemy. If you want loot, not so much.
  • Same for boomrats / boomalopes. Dont bother training release, just use allow zones to herd them into the enemy. But they *will* die, and they *will* set fire to absolutely everything in the area. So no-go if you want loot.
  • if you have multiple pawns on a map, you can ***run away*** one pawn at a time by entering the outermost squares of the map. The rest of your pawns continue the good fight on the map tile. THEN, go on global map, and have your pawn rejoin the battle, as if they were caravan movements. They will reappear on the map, but not in quite the same border square. Can play a wonderful game of ping-pong with the enemy this way. And remember, you have Sniper rifles, so you get to take a few potshots before you have to run again.

When ever i attack with a sniper, they just seem to rush all at me. its so annyoing i can't really do anything :(. I may have to do the bring stuff with me method some how.

For raiding someone else, try clearing some of the trees between them and you to deny them cover, use the wood to make cheap walls for cover.

Have a melee pawn with a shield belt and bionic/archo legs (jogger/fast Walker traits help) to run out in the open to draw their attention. Just keep moving to buy timer for the shooters. Works better with a good duster, since marine armor slows you down a lot.

If you use snipers as a forward team to soften them up, don't kill anyone. The moment one of them dies, they rush. Just single shot for a crippling hit, then switch targets.

You can pick up traps, and haul them. Make some IEDs or spikes at home, pick them up, load them on a pack animal to bring with. It's a lot quicker than trying to build there. Just be careful, pawns can trigger the trap while trying to uninstall, so don't use someone you absolutely must have alive.

Wrong. When you attack one of their buildings they have a chance to rush you.

I find assault rifles the best for everyone. I wait for them to disperse throughout their base then poke at them until they bum rush me. Since they aren't in a tight pack I'm usually able to take most of them out before they inflict any minor damage. Don't spread out your units too much or they may get stuck in cross fire.

Turrets work! I took on a army 3 times bigger then me! i had to build 3 auto turrets for it to work and place them right though. I incurred no loses on my side! I had 5 people, they had like 20! :O

wow, so much loot... that's like 6 h of work of 1 decent miner.
killing bases is like the most pointless thing ever.... 0 loot and lots of time+food wasted getting there and back

Ever tried deconstructing their bases for easy 1000+ steel? ...
Metal tiles, concrete, paved tiles, steel beds, light bulbs. All those will give you tons of steel

"Just from deconstructing the sandbags", you ignoramus.
.
Took a outlander base earlier today, Loot was:
About 2000 steel
45 components
6 functional batteries (which i have not yet researched)
Megascreen tv
about 12000silver worth of sellable loot, in the form of weapons both dropped by defenders and from their armory. Still need to sell them of course.
21 heaters (why not? they use components to make, and are very light)
3 firefoam popper (that i haven't even researched yet, but can use)
4 working miniturrets
And one legendary Sniper rifle. only at 94% unfortunately.

Left behind more food than I cared to cart around, more beds than anyone could use ever, and many, many standing lamps (40+). The lamps were tempting as they are very light and contain a good bit of steel, but decided its not worth the effort to deconstruct them.
